27118, Advice about paint...
Posted by fasterGS, Jul-20-02 06:40 PM
So most of you know what happened to my car, if not then look below. Well a lot of glass fell down the side of the car so I know there are scratches. Should I get it fixed/repainted? From what I have heard my color will be very hard to match. So, should I......

a) just try to get that section repainted

b) try to get more of the car repainted, since it will be hard to match

c) since the scratches are minimal, just forget about it

TIA

An experienced painter will be able to blend it in. They will sand off the clear on the whole section, but only paint on the sections that are really scratched, and blend it in). If they are good at it, you won't notice any change in color. Insurance should cover the window and paint.

Well that is good to hear.. I was a little scared because everyone I talked to about it said it would look like ass because it would be hard to blend in. The only thing that sucks about that is then I will have one side that is all perfect, and the other will be scratched and all. Althought they DID mess with both sides of the car, so they COULD have created some of the scratches on the other side too ;)

Ya it should be ok if the painter will blend it. Most insurance shops I talked to said they would have to paint the whole side of the car (when I had keyed doors). I think a lot of shops aren't too good at blending. I had both my doors repainted when my car was gray, and it matched perfectly and you couldn't even tell that it was painted (well only part of it painted since it was blended).
