i just bought the car alarm from a 2gnter here and now i need to put it in. is it something i can do my selft or shoould i just take it to a shop? i'm pretty electronically incline and installed my own system and stuff.

help, general instructions anything will be apppreciated.

I would say have a pro do it just solely based on the fact that your car alarm isn't something you want to have not working at any given time :) I know my aladdin 2000 took a little while to install by a pro so it can't be THAT easy hehe. I probably could have done it myself but like I said, I would hate to screw up something so important.

wimps, its easy, if you can install a radio you can install a car alarm, its only a couple of connections.

I am paying $50 bucks to have mine installed with keyless entry. Don't listen to him if your not comfortable with it then don't plain an simple.

i would feel comfortable doing it as long as i knew what to hook up and where. my next day off i'm gonna lay it out and see if i can figure out whats what.

Well as an alarm installer here, no, they are not difficult, at least not on our cars, but you do need to take the time to hide and conceal all your wiring and alarm componets to make it an actual security system, and not some noise maker that goes off all the time. If you understand car electricals, like power and ground, you should be able to do it, just remember to take your time. You should have the following tools handy to do the job: Wire strippers and cripmpers, preferably solder and solder iron, if not, then crimp type connectors, extra wire, self-drilling sheet metal screws, electrical tape, black wire loom, a 12v test light to help find wires you need, and a power screw gun or cordless drill will be very helpful. Every wire needed to hook up the alarm can be found under the driver's dash area, and the driver kick panel area also. Mount the alarm brain somewhere thats not very accessable, and def not directly under the driver dash, its too easy to find. Mount the siren under the hood somewhere concealed also. Tape up all your wiring, and use black wire loom to match the stock wiring, as this will help conceal the alarm wiring and blend in with stock wiring harnesses. You can use the directtechs link in my signature to give you all the colors and locations of wiring you will need to hook it up. If you feel you cannot do the install, take it to a very reputable install shop, and BE SURE to tell them to conceal everything very well. I hope this helps some, good luck.
