Ok, I have a 96 Eclipse N/T but I dont know what it is because it doesnst have an RS/GS Emblem on the back . Can someone tell me what kind of eclipse ive got ?? . Its a 2.0L engine .

Does it have sideskirts, 50/50 rear seat, rear wiper, black door handles and black mirrors.....ummm cant think of anything else

do you have window cranks and no power door locks? and are your button bezels just dummies? like the one on the left of the steering wheel? no foglights? if so then it is an RS.

yeah an rs is power nothing so if got non of that stuff it's an rs like me.

some RSs have power, but if your name is John96RS, you might have an RS

Hey guys, my RS has power windows, locks, and sunroof. Even if he has power he may still have an RS.

Easiest way to tell is by two things. If you have black door handles and black side mirrors, then you are an RS. If you have painted ones, then you are a GS. Also, no RS's that i know of come with rear disk brakes, so if you have drums in the rear, then you are a RS. My RS has power locks and windows, and cruise. Those are options for the RS, as are there many others..

did anyone mention the rims and foglights? if you have really small rims and no fog lights, then ur an RS

Well I have a 99RS and heres the differences I have noticed...

Mirrors and door handles will be black and not color matched to the car

If it still has factory wheels they will be 14" Wheels.

May or may not have pockets at the bottom of the doors, this one I am still researching.

The center console will not have an opening arm rest lid.

The back seat will not be a 50/50 split.
no fog lights.

rear drum brakes.

no rear sway bar




By the way all I am new here and my name is Shawn. I am planning on turnign my 99RS into a n RS-T. One day will have a turbo and a built engine. I am also planning on adding side skirts and a complete leather interior from a GSX. I am looking for a complete Cruise control system at the moment to instal since my RS is power nothing. I dont even have the soft side interior. Oh well...Lighter equals faster :-)

Ok say he does have black door handles and windows...But say his car is black...how you gonna tell then???

Every GS comes with the following...

power locks
power windows
rear disk brakes
rear wiper
sideskirts
16" alloy rims
foglights
matching door handles and mirrors

If you have all of those you're a GS pal. Otherwise you're an RS like me. I've heard every 100-200lbs takes a tenth off your time so being a lightweight RS isn't always a bad thing...

if the car is black you can still tell if the mirrors and handles arent painted just look at them you can tell that they arent painted and they are just plastic..
