ok i have my kit on the car need to get it painted, my body shop says he wants to do 1 whole fresh coat of paint over the whole car so its matches, now i cant afford the color change so i agreed to that now is it possible when he goes to clear it to add a pearl color into the clear coat? please let me know and apox cost thanks alot

If he is really doing one fresh coat of paint, the labor to sand out all the clear is a lot. It would only be a few hundred more to change the color completely (exterior only) if he really is going to sand the whole car down and reshoot a layer of paint and clear. To give you some perspective, if you just want to add a layer of pearl to your stock paint, we charge 1100 since we still have to sand the whole car down. If you want to change colors completely, its 1300 (only 200 more) for exterior only. So to answer your question, it should not cost much more at all to add a pearl to your stock paint if he is already sanding the clear off so he can shoot another layer of black. To be honest, I think he is just trying to get more money from you, because black is not hard to match, so I don't see a need at all to repaint the car. Maybe he just wants more money and won't even really paint it all.
