25017, Anyone that broke their door handles..... Posted by PowerEclipses, Jun-24-02 10:42 AM
damnit i was pissed i was just getting a job cause i need money to keep my car running and i open the door handle and the bastard broke JUST AFTER GETTING MY PAINT JOB, so i was like ah fuck this, so i went to the hardware store and got some epoxy, the really strong kind it holds like 3500 psi. I clean the door handle and epoxied it and put some plastic ties around it to make sure they stay shut while they dry, after about 20 mins i went back out and made sure it opened right and scrapped some off if it didnt. Put it back on and the next day it work great its not stronger with that epoxy, its only 5 bucks and you dont have to get it repainted! lol so anyone cause use this idea or w/e

What did your door handle look like when it broke??
Mine looks like this:

I don't see how I could get epoxi on that unless I uninstall the whole door handle thing. What exactly did you do to epoxi it?
Thanks,

pictures are good :) lol
but you didn't say how you got the epoxy on the door handle? as it is right now, i don't see any way of putting epoxy on the handle and having anythign to attach it to (?)
do you have to disassemble the door?
EDIT: OOOOK, I've been mispelling fucking EPOXY this whole damn time, I don't know why. My bad.

Yes, you must take out the door handle its self, its pretty easy, take out the door panal pull back plastic, there is a bolt inside and one in the door jam, then you have to pull out the metal rods that are attached to the door handle and there ya go its out :D

If you're taking it out to put epoxy on it, why don't you just spend the $25 dollars and buy the new door handle? That's all I did.

Because that's not something I have on hand right now and probably can't get for a week or two. I don't have that much time to wait. I can get epoxy tomorrow and have it done by the next day, most likely. I might replace the handles later on.

Hmm...I tried to do what you said, but there is a big piece of glass in the way. How did you get around that to get the last bolt/screw out? As it is, I don't see any easy way to get it out. Am I missing something????
Thanks

Yes, my windows are rolled up. I am using a 3000psi epoxy from Ace. I hope it works, but who knows.
I will try and take pics in a lil bit.

well, there is a ratchet that you can use, its flat you can find them at ace or w/e hopefully any hardware store they come in use its pretty hard to explain there is a bolt right aside of the lock its self thats the one you use the flat ratchet on...
