i have a guage mounted up on my steering column. im trying to figure out the easiest way to mold a pod onto the top of the steering colomn so it looks like 1 piece. Any ideas? What type of material would you use???

wrap the entire thing (steering column top piece & installed gauge) with pantyhose. then layer fiberglass over the panty hose. when it dries you can smooth it all out and paint it.

of course, this is a very simple explanation but if you know how to work with fiberglass you should be able to fill in the blanks. if they look good you can sell them here, ill buy one

ok, dont use panty hose, cyans just got that fetish, it will leak threw and mess up ur interior, here is what you do.....

Get alot or rags sheats ext to protect everything cause you will be making a mess, next you get som tin foil and cover the staring colum the spot where you want the gauge. the get some gardingind stirafom or a pices of har foam, this will be you "gauge" shave it out to the shape of the pod you want and tape it to the stearing coulum, then cover it with tin foil to get the shape and curves you want. Now mix the resin for the glass and coat the tin foil, then coat the pre-cut peice of fiberglass on a pice of paper or wax paper, then wearing ruber gloves, take the wet pisce of glass and place it over you tin foil styrafom pod, then brush on more resin till the glass is absorbed all of it and "tap" the glass with the brush to get it into the nooks and cranys. The after all the air bubbles and the whole asembly is wet, put a lam on it or in the sun and let it dry. when its tolaly dry, take it out and the glass will be stuck to the tin foil, but thats ok, next trim the extra away and do a test fit, if its what you want it s done, or if it too thin, ruff up the glass and redo the last few steps to aply another layer.... Ok now get some primer and bondo. put a light coat of primer on and let it dry, when dry lighty sand untill you start to see the high and low spots. fill them in with bondo and sand away. when your done sand it will 220 grit paper, than wet sand till its smoth, prime it, and pain to what ever you want.

Hows that? I cant spell
