my interior has a rough feeling after the paint dried. i don't know whether its just the paint, or particles settling on it while it dried. i applied several coats and its definitely dry, but i gotta get it to feel "stock", or smooth. do i sand it off, and if i do, what grit do i use? if not sanding, what do i do to get rid of this feeling?

Use like at least 800 grit sandpaper

I found out a nice trick. Sand it pretty good, where it smooths it some. Then primer, wet sand, primer, wet sand until smooth. Then paint it some, small coats to keep it smooth. Any runs, just wait it out, stop, when it dries, wet sand it. Clear coat it like u wanna drown it. Any runs, just wet sand and then go light with clear after it dries. The last part I did this with looks just like the outside paint.

Also you can just wipe down the peice in between coats with a tack cloth to pick up any unwanted particles.

don't sweat it, i had the same problem, mines still rough, ive been lazy and havent sanded it down and painted again yet. Its a pain to mask off your windshield and all that again heh, I gotta find some time to do it. Anyway, you'll be alright bro, just take your time and relax.

not sweating it, but i want to get that smooth feeling back. i'll try wipe it down with the tack cloth for future reference, but for now, sand it with 800 grit? i don't wanna clear anything, cuz i don't want it shiny. i want it to look stock, all black with some silver.

Yes, use at least 800 grit and sand between all coats

what kind of paint did everyone use? vinyl? and pretty much the only thing you can do to paint the interior is taping off everything?

nah playa... i didn't want to do it like that, so i took the door panels out and i bought a dash at a junk yard (no downtime). some guys here have also taken there dash out and painted it too. oh, and yes, vinyl spray paint, platikote, duplicolor, or (the best stuff and most expensive) sem. good luck!

9D9, I just started redoing my interior and have been following your instructions, cept I'm using a dremel tool and making it 100% smooth, got the a/c vent peice done and it looks badass! thanks bro, btw, I'm using hehe rustoleum gloss aluminum and clearin that, turned out great, btw, sanding's a biatch!
