First of all i would like to say that the 2g rear end is a work of art. Personally it is what first attracted me to eclipse's. Anyway lately I have noticed that everyone is bashing Altezza tail lights, and are in favor of the stock ones. I like the stock tail lights, but I really think the altezza tails look great. Yes they are sort of ricey, but I have gotten more compliments on them than anything else I have done to my car. True they are just a trend, but I feel they are going to be around for a while. Anyway feel free to add your two cents to this post. I was just interested to see what others thought.

I was a fan of altezza lights for a while. I had a pair and loved them with the painted center peice. The reason I took them off is because I did feel like they were ricey. Now I can't stand them. I see them everywhere I go and I hate them more and more everyday.

I've always felt that if your car looks ricey, anything that you do to it will be ricey. I've tried to make my car clean, and to follow a theme with it. My car is white with chrome headlights, chrome taillights, and I just ordered 18" chrome rims for it. I've never been told that any part of my car looks ricey. However, if I put on one of those LED exhaust tips, My car would turn to rice instantly, at least from the back. It's putting stuff like that on that makes cars ricey. Anyone can buy stuff at Walmart or eBay for under $20 and put it on their car (exhaust tips & washer LED's). And anyone that pays attention to fads & such knows that $20 goes a long way with rice. People need to think about what they want to do with their car, and think of the money they want to spend on it. How many times have you seen a Walmart exhaust tip & said, "wow that's really nice!", never.

Altezzas can be ricey or they can be a nice addition. It all depends on the overall look of the car. I've seen stock exterior cars with just altezzas on. That's not ricey in my book. But that's just my 2ยข.

i love them on my car! but they dont look good on all cars. personally i think they only look good on light colored cars. white mostly. they blend better with the car.

they probably don't paint the interior b.c they can't figure out how to take off the panels :) or can't find them in stores.. about the altezzas.. i'll have to agree with most of the posts here.. they can look good on some cars, mostly lighter colored cars, white, silver.. i didn't really like them on eclipes, but that white above doesn't look too bad.. i remember i first saw some on a red truck and thought they looked really good...

Thats a whole differnt comparison. Everyone has a tounge, but would tounge piercings be so different if everyone had them? grandmas, uncles, parents? Whole different story though.

Yeah but altezzas dont look so special when 1 in 3 vehicles has them on the street. If everyone had chrome hub-caps, would you want them too?

Ive seen them on that model. They have large areas of white with about 4 small little red dots. Someone has to make them for an 87 accord if they make them for astro vans.

well, i have altezzas on my car, i got the gen 3's when they first came out. i think they look very good on eclipses, but cant stand them on trucks. seems like after i got mine all these crappy trucks got them and they just look like sh*t. i too have gotten many compliments on my tails, and am the most well known import tuner in my town becaues of them. and ill have to disagree about the color. i have a dark green eclipse and they look nice, they dont clash, but ill agree white and silver do look good.

I think all of them are ugly, nothing like looking at fake crome and crap. The only reason I have mine is cause there different, there not crome, and there are no funky lense shapes, just 3 circuls and no crome, factory matched baby

I saw a Eclipse at Import Showcase that had some TYC tails.. they were sick they looked very classy!! I want some in gun metal with chrom rings around the lens so they match my rimz.

i kind of like those back lights that have the black covering and all that shows are 3 red circles but they get smaller towards the outer parts of the lights.

Well it's nice to see some true opinions. Personally I have the carbon fiber ones and have had them on since June of 2001. That was way before most people had them. I never thought they would get so big, but I'm not pissed off that other cars and trucks are getting them now. Yeah, they do look like shit on cars with walmart crap on them, but those that have them that make them look good, I give them props. At least they are customizing their car or truck.

Let's see, I really have mixed opinions. I like the ones that are on my car right now, but I'm thinking of going to the all red altezzas. I prefer the 3rd gen because of the three round lenses. IMO the ones with the red sides are kinda ugly. Just my opinion. I'm glad to see that every one has different opinions, otherwise all of our cars would look the same. As far as ricey, led washers, that's ricey!

I'm on my second set of altezza's and like them just fine. I like the ones I have now (red corners) better than the original APC ones. I don't know what area you're in as far as being one of the first ones, but I put my original set on back in like June/August of 2000. Some friends and I went to an HIN here in Cali where APC was just beginning the marketing of them. The next week I bought some pre-release ones from some shady character on ebay.

Most people had them during June 2001. I remember seeing them for the first time back in the summer of 2000 on an Accord. It was rare for like 3 months and then spread like wildfire. I remember wanting to get them in October of 2000 (right after i bought my eclipse) because they were starting to get even more popular.

i like them, in fact i wanted lights like this before ever seeing them, so when they came out i had to have them :)
although i'm thinking of another custom setup right now...

I by no means meant I was one of the first people to have altezza's. I meant I had the carbonfiber ones before most people. The carbon fiber ones did not come out the same time as the clear/chrome ones.

youre right! I didnt think about it but youre right. The CF ones didnt hit the market until about the next year during the spring. That is when my friend got his and everyone thought he was the ish for having CF tailights.

Sometimes it seems that fads start just because something is different. It might not necessarily look the best, but it's so different that everyone wants to have it to be unique. I think that that's how a lot of rice gets cooked. Just my .02 ... btw, I am the newby here so I've got my flame suite on. :D
