I've seen the kits on ebay to make your headlight housing glow blue or whatever color. My question is...could i rig one up myself...by using the same type resistor and led that i used on the interior lights? Where would I hook the + and - to? Anything else i should know?

yes and no, the kits they sell on ebay have gromits and such to keep it waterproof, so if u were to drill a hole and seal it up, you will have no prob. I have the varad led flashers in my turn signals and they blink when the car is off, it gravs atention and is cool

all you need to do is get some of those ugly hood squiter leds and take them apart bright leds and none of the radio shack math

it's not hard at all to put together the setup.

just use the same resistor that you used from the hvac install and hook it the same way.

except in the head lights. or any place....

i'm going to use some to highlight my sub, receiver, shifter, door handels and maybe do the headlight ones perhaps some in my altezas.

Well the resistors and stuff is no problem, (what ohm rsistor is it again? i forget the #'s) I can solder all that stuff no prob.. Does anybody have a write up or can anyone just tell me like what to seal it up w/ and where would be the best place to drill? What does it look like when ur lights are on? Attention is what im looking for!!

The resistor you need depends on what LED you're using. To figure it out use this formula:

(Vcar-Vled)/A = R

Vcar is the Voltage of the car, assume 14V (my volt meter reads 13.5V when the engine is running and 12V when it's just the battery)

Vled is the Voltage the LED is rated for.
A is the current in Amps the LED is rated for. (remember 1mA = .001A)
Both of those numbers should be on the LED package.

R is the resstance in Ohms.

Thanks man that helps w/ which resistor and stuff to get...but what about the placement? And will it be noticeable w/ the lights on?
O-h and eclipticrider another place that would look good is in ur center vent.....i didnt no if it would look crappy or not, but once i did it i really like it...i get alot of complements on it!

I had led's in my headlights in front of the high beam and I had them hooked up to my viper alarm. When the car was armed, or when it was remote started, it looked like I had strobes in there... I got a lot of compliments on them. The part number for the led controller is DEI 629R. You can hook up to 5 led's and make them do 3 different patterns.

the resistor we used in the hvac install was 330 ohm.

i've already put a neon light in the center vents. leds r about as expensive as neons are.

all well, they look cool so i'm gonna have to buy stock in them before i go to radio shack ;)

if you want the leds from radioshack cheaper and u r buying alot, order online, I think when I ordered 20 it came out to be 80 bucks instad of 100

Yo' ! Hold On ! Radio Shack is kinda expensive... I ordered mine through www.ledconcepts.com . These leds are just as good as RadioShacks.... These are the ones I used for my HVAC / Speedometer conversion and they look great (I didn't know about Varads Leds at the time) But anyways...I hadn't got any problems at all with these LEDs. I order what they call a '10 pack sample' and it was $24.00 (including S&H Priority Mail) Can't get any better than that !

Just thought you may wanna give it a try... BTW I don't know why but somewhere it was mentioned that if you do the math right the resistors should be 550 ohms... Those are the ones I used... and they still look bright enough.
