Has anyone had this happen to them or know what it might be? It seems to happen when it rains hard, the carpet under the passanger's front seat gets soaked, up to the rear part of the same side. Driver's side is dry. This happened once before, and again I remember it was also a period of hard rains. I know this does not happen during dry weather because the only reason I notice it's wet is because the car started to stink cos the rug is wet so i got in the back and followed the smell:) and noticed the carpet was soaked..my guess is if it was some sort of leak from a/c or anything it would happen always, not only when it rains...
The door panel is dry also the seat cushion so its not a leak from the window I guess,I checked under the car wihtout lifting it but just looking as far as I could and touching to see if i felt any cracks but felt nothing.

you prob have a hole in the fire wall, Check to see that all the rubber seals are there and there are no holes in there

I'm not too mechanically inclined ... could you please explain what you mean by firewall...do you mean the bottom (floor)of the car?

Hes referring to the wall between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment under the dash.

Thanx I'll be checking that! However if there was a leak there wouldn't the front of the carpet get wet as well?..it only gets soaked right under the front psgr. seat (i have to stick my hand seat to the firewall its dry... i'll check regardless, thanx for the tip.

are you losing any coolant, check your coolant if it is low and your heater barely works than it could be your heater core leaking a little it is very difficult to get too because its behind the dash, that would make more sense why it is wet even though it has not rained. Coolant goes thru our heater core and our heater core is somewhere behind the dash. you kmight have to disconnect your heater

most likely, its going to be the seal around the hatch...water is getting into the car then flowing behind the palstic panels then onto your carpet...also check under the floor in the trunk, i bet you got some water in there also...

water will travel in some very very wierd ways...

if it is the seal, a new one will fix your problem...

have you added any recent holes to your car for wiring amps or anything?? i had this EXACT problem with a different car after running an antenna through to the passenger wheel well, up next to my glove box. i figured it was high enough to not effect anything, but there is so much pressure building up inside the wheel wells that it was just sucking the water in when it rained. does your car leek when you wash it??? if not then the problem is under the car somewhere.

put your car up on blocks, get under, and just start lookin around. you might also try taking your seats and carpet out (not very hard), then you could probably spot it easier.

i will tell u exactly what it is. I had the same problem u have cable next to the drivers front seat that opens the gas door, right ok pull it there is a black piece of plstic that keeps the door closed u cant miss it, this should not move. if it does u have to remove it, and apply some adhesive or silicone or something. with the gas door open and the hatch open trimm removed. run water over the gas door opening and wiggle that black plastic thing. now u can see the water coming in. there is a gasket but it probly wore out or some a hole at the full-serve slamed it shut and now you got a nice swimming pool. hope that helps.

I actually took the car to satan today on an unrelated problem and they checked and said it was the seal, that the water was going behind the panels and gertting the carpet wet..but the point about the fuel door is also worth looking at so I'll look at both. Just a few q's. When you mean the seal you mean the thin rubber one that borders the glass? or the thick rubber one that borders the actual inside of the trunk when you open the hatch?...Im asking because I do have that problem of water in the trunk so even if its not the cause of the carpet water it probably is of the water in trunk problem.
Also about the fuel door gasket, if you could explain me a bit more, i'm not too sure I understood all that well. I still have to look at it but from what I understand there's a gasket around the little tab that keeps the fuel door closed and that tab should not move, if it does then chances are the gasket is shot..did I get that right?

yeah, its the big rubber one that you see when you open the hatch (not the window seal)

Would an auto glass shop have/change that? I dont wanna take many chances since it's been raining hard last few days and forecast is for more rain for the coming weeks.

By the way yesterday I checked the trunk and indeed I had a nice puddle on the spare tire well so had to drain that sucker out. I also checked the fuel door thing but it's pretty tight it doesnt really move unless you force it so Im guessing that's fine..

no dude, you can replace it...(its NOT the window seal) its the hatch seal, get a new one, i think you might need some adhesive silicone also. take off the old one, and put on the new one...
