23653, Turbo Spoiler on RS Posted by MGPEclipzin, Jun-05-02 12:49 PM
Hey-I really need anyone's help. I have a 1998 Eclipse RS--and I'm a 16 year old girl-so i dont know a whole lot about cars, but i've got some pretty good modifications on my eclipse anyway. well, i was bored so i went down to the junkyard just to check out some new wings that i heard they had. well i found a turbo spoiler from an eclipse the exact same color as my car (a pretty rare color: "magenta grey pearl") so i bought it. I know that i should be prepared to paint and fill old bolt holes from my 3 peice spoiler. does anyone know how it looks to leave the 2 side peices on the car, remove the old middle part, and attatch the new spoiler? and exactly how do u fill holes? fiberglass bonding gel? welding? which is the easiest? can i do it myself? please help me out here--i would hate to waste my 75 dollars on a spoiler i cant use. thanks a lot!

well actually what they do is they would take your old wing off..get pieces of metal and weld them in the holes and then smooth the holes..you would have to take the side pieces off because i dont think it would flow that wing does it on its own with the body lines of the car..it really should be that much but just do it right the first time..you will have to get the back of the car painted where they filled the holes but its worth it..and ??? just email me..lata

Hey,
Actually you don't have to take off the Two Side pieces if you don't want to. But I think it would look better if you did.
Since you have to get the center hole filled and re-paint the trunk lid, mind as well take off the two side pieces and get them filled too and painted.
But if you low on cash - keep it. I've seen a couple Eclipse like that and it looks kinda tacky IMO.
Wow - $75.oo for a Turbo Spoiler - Good Deal. You can easily sell it on ebay for 100-125.
If you save your money, you could get a wing like mine.

if u look hard enough you can see the left over parts of the 3 piece spoiler. btw, i don't think u can have the two side pieces with the turbo wing. it just wouldn't flow with the look of the car.

I would take the side things off though I think you could leave them on. Go to different body shops and see how good the work is they do and get some prices. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

Yeah I have seen it with the side pieces on and it doesnt look right. Just take off the whole thing and fill the holes. It will look sweet. Good find :thumbsup! later
