23626, 3rd brake light
Posted by Aggression, Jun-05-02 10:14 AM
I removed my stock 3 peice spoiler which contain the third brake light LED. I replaced the spoiler with a universal dual aluminum wing. I was unaware that you need a third brake light but after being pulled over twice today in 2 minutes, the police informed me that I do. So, I was wondering where I might find a third brake light to go in the back window of my 97 GS. TIA

what if u do the middle tailight mod and wire those lights to the brake lights? or if u mold in a light bracket right above the tailight half in the trunk like they have in the spiders?

Man - That Cop is on CRACK.

What about all the Cars without 3rd Brake Lights. Do they get tickets too.

Just tell them your car never came with the factory 3 Piece Spoiler so there no factory 3rd brake light.

There's car out there everywhere that don't have 3rd brake lights.

What a bunch of Crap.

all new cars are equiped with a third brake light assembly either in the wing or on the back of the window. This is mandated by fed. law. It is for every state-- the police in your area might not enforce it depends if they have a real job or if there are just baby sitters for your town....

If you have the wiring harness al the way up in the hatch it will jsut plug and play, take off the hatch plastic cover (in my case gray) and see if you have the harness, also you will have to cut the plastic cover for the 3rd light. My RS was with a 3rd light but i removed it (Mexico ;) and i bought from a yunkyard a lightless panel.

I've got a 3rd brake light on mine inside the window that appears to be a stock 3rd brake light. I assume it came on my car (no spoiler) but also works well with the high spoiler. In more specific its the boxy kind inside the window but it fits up perfectly to the hatch and well.. Looks like this:
