are the PIAA bulbs worth the money. or should i say, are they that much better than the $20 hyper bulbs?

From my experiences the better brands are tend to be more white than blue, which to me gives the car a cleaner look. Im sure you know but be careful of any aftermarket bulbs. They get hotter and melt stuff.

Yeah, I'm with Jason on this one. I had Hyper brand hiper whites and was having peoblems with the damn fog light bulbs always blowing....went through a few. I ended up replacing them all with PIAAs and they look much better....and have lasted over a year now. I think they are worth it.

I 2nd/3rd that.
I have PIAA Super Plasma for my Low Beams H3 and High Beams H1. (Running Projector lights - Bright as Heck - Looks Awesome) Got them for $35.00/pair off Ebay.
I'm also running PIAA Super White H3 for the Factory Fog Lights and PIAA Xtreme White 1157 for the Turn Signal Lights and PIAA Plasma Blue 168 for the Bumper Lights.
