2293, To SHAUN or CYAN or anyone!!!... DASH QUESTION!!! Posted by VxROxV, Mar-21-01 03:18 AM
I was wondering if you guys can help me figure out how to take the dashboard apart... Im getting my interior done and wrapped but dont want the extra labor charge of having the guy take my interior apart... so i kinda wanted to save a lil money by trying to take it apart myself... any suggestions?!? oh, and i also need help with the one on the rear windows...where the seatbelts are attached, if any of you guys know how to take that out too...
thanks alot RO

you can remove everything except the dash itself. i wouldnt recommend paying someone to wrap it, it will be too thick and the dash pieces may not fit back in their places correctly. just remove all the panels and paint them and the dash. to remove panels, remove all visible screws and bolts first, then pull firmly on the panel until the clips pop out. you wont break anything even though it may feel like it. for the rear window panel, you gotta remove the lower panel first (4 screws and some clips) then you will see three screws on the bottom of the window panel then just pop out the clips like all the other panels. its real easy. let me know if you need any more advice on any of the interior. http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt

Ive removed all the bottom half panel (glove box, lower dash panel under the steering wheel, etc...), Vents, Gauge Cluster and steering wheel... now all i need to know is how to take the top dash out of the car... i also have disconnected the passenger airbag but do i have to pull it out in order for me to get the dash out the car... and also, any hidden screws/clips i should look for?! as of right now, my plans are to just paint everything, but have the seats wrapped... I really appreciate your time and help Cyan...
Thanks alot RO

Hey u can remove the dash i just got mine all dyed white!
the passanger side airbag under the thing are 2 bolts thats it holding it in very easy u can also disconect the red wire goin to it without it blowing up in your face :) After that there are about 4 or 5 screws philips heads screwed in from behind the dash just look carfully in the knooks and then u should be ok.
The dash wirenin harness underneath by the sterring wheel as well comes off then the dash comes right out!
it is easy once u take the time and find the screws that are a pain cause there screwed in from behind and very hard to screw out without smashing the dash heehe
any probs email me!

depends on how much time you wanna spend, the second time i painted my dash i hit it perfect. the paint is flawless even up towards the windshield. if you lay enough paint on there you can get it all with the windshield taped off. i put some kroger bags over the steering wheel and blankets over the seats. then removed all the dash panels of course. vents, trim, glove box, apillars, etc etc http://www.geocities.com/blue2gnt
