So, those tight as hell headlamps I just got (Matrix black housing blue ion)started getting moisture inside them the second day I had them. I washed the car and it wasn't even high pressure. Matrix Customer service blows so I gave up the battle. They dried out nicely, There wasn't that much moisture anyway. So, since Matrix are being beotches, will a small clear bead of silicone RTV around the seal solve this from happening in the future? Any suggestions, have you guys had this prob w/projectors?TIA!

silicone will seal the edges for your lights but you need to pull them apart first. You can heat them in the oven at 200 deg for about 20 mins. Once you get them apart let them cool and then put a bead of silicone in, put them back together and then put them back into the oven for another 5-10 mins. this will help the silicone dry faster.

why don't u use the the seals they use for fish tanks. i think its the same material though.

I have heard of using a blow dryer to pull them apart, but will a oven work? They won't melt or get burn marks on the headlights. I want to take out the yellow housing in my stock 97-99 headlights. So I can just put it in the oven at 200 degrees for 20 minutes and they will be ok. Wow thxs, the blow dryer would suck using.

it takes about 3 hours using a blow dryer to take them apart and put them back together. You can also use a heat gun and it would speed things up a little. The oven thing sounds kind of iffy to me...

if you want to take out the amber on the lights.. i would just suggest cutting up the back of the housing and breaking the amber piece.. i did this to mine and it was much easier than opening them up.. just used some bondo and some silicon to seal them up again.. and there you go
