Looks Good. I'm Planning on Painting my center piece this weekend. I bought some Sarona Red paint for my 98 Eclipse Spyder GS. Do I need a can of clear coat also.

Any suggestion / hints before I start painting.

Thanks,
Mike

You're gonna wanna clearcoat anything you paint generally. Unless you are going for a "flat look" with the paint. But on an exterior piece like tails you're gonna definitely want to use some. Protects the color from fading from washes and what not. Not to mention it just looks better. Take your time and let each coat dry. You should have no problems. Color matching is sometimes difficult though. Good luck...Later

is that a 3 piece high wing?? is it any different from the normal turbo wings??
Is it easy to install that wing on a car w/ a low 3 piece spoiler already on?
thanks

Looks nice. I was wondering if you guys had it done professionally or did you do it yourselves. As you can see in the pic, mine is flat black and looks like crap. I want it to match the car. I know i can find instructions on how to paint the center piece using the search function, but i was just wondering about the results and if it would be better to take it to a shop.

And also I have a carbon fiber altezza centerpiece. Should I have the CF one painted or have the current one repainted. I've heard complaints of water leaking in the altezza keyhole area. Thanks.

I would just repaint the stock one. You can try to add a clear coat on top of that unless you used a flat enamel paint that is not meant to be used with a clear coat. Maybe try going to an auto store and buying duplicolor paint and clear and redoing it.

hey ryan, how did you get your "eclipse" letters centered like that? i am assuming you took the letters off, painted the center piece, and bought some new letters or put back the same ones. how'd you get them centered like they were stock? also, carrie, that is the wings west "custom 3-piece" wing. looks a lot like the 3000gt spoiler. it is different from the turbo high spoiler, as that one is just one-piece and is mounted only on the hatch.

Hey all,

Thanks for the compliments. I love my spoiler. The spyder originally had the low 3-piece spoiler.

This new wings just bolts right up to the stock holes - real easy to install. The only downfall is that when you take off the stock 3-piece low spoiler there's a hole right in the middle of your trunk lid.

This needs to be filled and the entire lid painted (To match tje paint nicely) Cost me $50 bucks to fill and paint the lid.

It cost me $200 total to get it paint and installed. (Would of only cost $150.00) I got a great deal - I fixed his computer for him and he gave me a discount.

He also painted all my interior pieces too. He said if you take them off I'll paint them for free. I should of took "everything" off and had it painted. Back them I didn't know. Looks really nice cuz it matched the exterior and to this day has not chipped. (4 years now)

Later,
Mike

Dexter (thisismygs)

I ordered new ones through mitsubishi for like $25. They come on a sheet and all you do is peel the back off and just basically eyeball it until you think its straight, they all go on at once, not individually.

notice how I have my eclipse letters under the center piece on the back bumper. I have had so many sets of tails, I figured it'd be cheaper that way. Plus, it looks cool.
