2137, APC roadvision mirrors with blinker Posted by trickedeclipse, Mar-15-01 03:56 AM
okay, it was too damn cold outside to take pictures, but i installed my mirrors and hooked them up...everything came out great. the install was fairly simple..the hard parts were: trying to get the wires through the door jamb. (i ended up using my car antenna with the wires taped to it)and then figuring out which wires were the blinker wires to tap into. i eventually found out that the wires run to the back of the car, down the driver side door sill. just lift the carpet near the drivers seat door, and you would want to tap into the green wire with the red stripe, and the green wire with the blue stripe...don't quote me, but if anyone's interested, i'll go check. you're gonna need a $2 tester anyway.
there was one small problem when the job was finished... i rolled down the window after everything was done, not realizing that the wire would be dangling in the path of the window track....the window cut the wires, so basically, i had to do the job a second time. MAKE SURE YOU TIE THE WIRES OUT OF THE WAY OF THE WINDOW TRACK!! it will save you alot of time, and this way, your neighbors won't complain about the nasty language you scream when you realize what has just happened.
later... PJ

Yes, great question. I have power mirrors. Would those APC's be compatible with those?
I saw those on a site for a pretty good preice. They might look pretty trick.

i hope i can remember all the questions you guys asked...
no, they aren't constant, they come on only when the blinker blinks... BUT if you are interested in which wire is connected to your marker lights (constant power when the lights are on) under the dash, i could tell you, because my indiglo gauges are hooked up to it. i will check tomorrow when there's light out there.
they look awesome, and light up the same color as my blue gauges.
no, they aren't power, they are only adjustable by pushing on the glass with your fingertips.
the only thing i don't like about them is: if you previously had manual mirrors, with that directional thingy on the inside of the window, it leaves an ugly hole where the adjuster used to be.
other than that they are perfect, and i will try to post pics tomorrow

Put some tweeters in the holes they left in the mirror adjusters.

How much do these mirrors go for, and where? Are they a lot more than the m3 mirrors?
