20579, Body Kit Experts and Erebuni / Invader Side Skirt Owners in Here!!

Alright I went to see how much everything would cost me to get paint and installed (Blitz front bumper and VIS Racing Invader Type 1 side skirts). Well my body shop guy quoted me $1400 bucks!!! I guess that is pretty cheap since he was gonna mold the skirts to my car, and make them look stock with no lines or ANYTHING! But it is not practical for me at ALL.

Anyways, you guys with the same side skirts, how did you mount them? I need to know pretty quick because I'm gonna get another shop to install them for me (hopefully without having to mold them on :) )

Thanks.

Simply not gonna happen - I do not have that kind of money to "waste" on my car, rather go to University.

Plus once winter comes I'm done if they are molded. Will crack and look like crap right away :)

Just do a simple install with screws then (which you can see though), or use tape. I wouldn't pay over 700 to paint and install the front and side skirts without molding.

Came through again Marcus :)

I was just wondering though where would the screws go? In the fenders and maybe on top of the skirts? How hard would it be to make the screws "near" invisible?

Thanks guys.

i put in hex head drywall screws with flat heads on them. lucky for me when i drilled them in a while back to replace my old screws, the paint chipped off, leaving the screw recessed at the same surface level as the paint so i can bondo right over the screws. what im gonna do is a partial molding, i will put a bead in the crack where my skirt meets my fender and smooth the bead in a little, so you will see an indention where the skirt hits but not an actual open seam. then i will get it all painted over. that is unless i decide to undertake molding them completely when i get my quarter panels painted. im not sure yet. but the flat screws with touch up paint worked well so far.

If you look at my pic, I think that's what Cyan is talking about. E-mail me if you want to get into details on how the shop did it.
