I just bought some hood pins and want to practice putting them on my OEM hood before I go with a carbon fiber hood. I was looking in my engine bay and can't seem to find an ideal place for the hood pins, any suggestions.

I just put mine in, there Is only one good place to put them that has a lot of room to work with. It the two little black ruber stopers right befor you get to the radiator. just spin them out and you have 2 even holes. If youwant anywhere else it will be a bitch and have no space unless the bolst are really short.

Ok, that is the place I was looking at, did you have to cut down your pins at all? reason I am asking is because the holes are only about 1 1/2 inches right above the radiator.

nope, ithink my pins where 4 to 5 inches. If you want them to be strait, you will have to bend them anyway so they will fit with a hammer

you can also install them above the head lights. The only thing is you have to drop your bumper and remove your lights. Once they are installed you cut the pins ends with a sawzaw to make them flush and then reinstall everything... maybe an hour tops to everything. I think they look better over the head lights than in the middle.... but you can do what ever you want.....

icedout, what do you mean by dropping your bumper, I think I would like to put my pins over my headlights.

I think what icedout means is taking off the front bumper and removing the lights and installing the pins above the lights.. i'v seen them installed there and they look much better than in the middle...

Well if I have to take-off my front bumper that gives me a reason to install my blitz front bumper now :), thanks for the info all.

yeah you need to remove the front bumper cover and then remove both head lights. Install the pins above the head lights. once you have the hood all drilled out and fitted correctly. Tighten the pins in place and make sure it fits properly. Once you have done that, take a sawzaw and cut the bottom of the bolts flush. After all that is done reinstall lights and then reinstall you from bumper. make sure you install all the screws back.. after that your shit will look tight.........

I would think more towards the outer edge would be ab etter place for them. Especially with the light hood and worrying about the moving alot in the wind.
