19749, ROLL BARS / CAGES Posted by cyan, Apr-13-02 05:27 PM
ok, im interested in getting one after everyone seems to be getting into near-fatal accidents lately. and lucky me, im the only board member who has even mentioned rollbars in the past few...well however far back the search goes. so who sells pre-formed bars for our cars or bars that are made for us but require in-car installation? i want a full bar, not a crossmember, but not a full race cage...just a nice 4-point functional but nice looking bar (or is it six points?)
anyway, i couldnt find monkey bars website, but any shop will be fine. i dont need it painted or coated, but if they can chrome it or send it somewhere to be chromed thats a big plus.

there's a company in the back of import tuner magazine that makes roll cages for our car. they make like 3 differant types for our car. including one that holds a camcorder between the seats. also, the monkey bar brand is contracted through the brand "akimoto", so you can buy them through any akimoto dealer. AND APC makes roll bars now, they call them show tubes. i don't know how good they are.

Actually the fact that he doesn't have rebar is a very good reason to get a rollcage, it'll probably save his life in an accident. It's just one more thing between you and the other car.

the rebar is just a piece of fiberglass between the two posts in front of the rediator, it helps in low-speed collisions, but anything at any rate of speed the rebar makes no difference...do you honestly think that one bar is going to make a difference? it just cuts down the damage to the radiator and engine, its not designed to transfer damage away from the passenger cabin.

ya i do think it would make a difference. if its off in a crash and you get hit or hit something, your engine is gone. not to mention the whole front of the car will cripple and your engine will be in your face. look at the pictures of that guy who got in a wreck on here. that bar made his wreck a lot less severe
