Hey glad to see it worked out for you, Im gonna be painting my dash soon. I was wondering what your plan was on painting it, are you gonna sand, prime, and then paint? Any clear coat?

I kind of like the texture of the dash. And all though I like to hear other peoples opinions, Im the type of person who does what I like, since Im gonna be the one seeing it all the time. So far (And all the other pieces have come out great. Ive been Cleaning with alcohol, then I primer, with black primer, and color red on top. I think Ill have a 100% original paintjob inside, youll see what I mean when Im done. And then yes I use clear coat. Helps prevent scratches. I dont know why this has worked so well, but Ive been doing this to the last few pieces and it has worked great, but I go ahead and paint color again on top of the clearcoat, and clear coat once again. You can then take your nails and hit them against the paint, move your keys across them, whatever and its beautiful, no scratches. So Im gonna stick with what works. Ill take pictures this weekend as I go, and get them posted. I dont have a digital camera though, so Ill have to wait for them to get developed then scan, but Ill write a detailed tutorial for everyone else.

Thanks Again!

Cyan, its not hard at all to put the dash back in. I only had to unhook 2 harnesses and that was all.

I know I had more than 2 harnesses, but I know that I unhooked a few that afterwards I realized I didnt need to unhook. Painting is going well, should be finished today. Also, I have a question, if anyone knows, when I pulled the wheel off, the black circle looking thing behind it popped open and the flat wire looking thing unravelled. Anything to worry about?

Thanks

thats probably because you have an RS...ive got several more power options that you dont, as well as who knows what else that may require extra wires, but i unplugged 5 harnesses on the left side and two or three in the center. (plus i had to compensate for 8 gauges, an alarm, an aftermarket stereo, neons, amps, etc, etc)

RS.....come on man....look at the sig pic, lol. But yah, i was wrong. I was just thining about the ones i had to unhook when i tried to pull the dash out. I tottaly forgot about all the ones i unhooked before trying to pull it out. So yah, my bad....more than 2. Cyan, i was wonderin, how was your alarm hooked up that u had to unhook it? Cause i got one and i didnt have to do anything with the alarm.

yeah the sig is what made me think you had an RS, at first i thought you didnt have sideskirts. anyway, yeah more than two harnesses. on my alarem, the brain was mounted to teh dash, while the wire for the LED and the wires for the motion sensor went to other locations, with one extra wire on my dash (i dont know what for) running to the back of my gauge cluster and the other end went into the firewall.
