I'm sure this has happened to many of you. Anyway my bumper cracked and this it what it looks like:

Other than use this as a perfectly good ecuse to get a new bumper. I was wondering if any of our body work gurus can tell me if this can be fixed and about what should I expect to pay. tia

Mine happened from nailing a Armadillo 3 YEARS ago....Funny thing was I wasn't even lowered yet either. I think I just opened a pre-existing crack cuz there's a fiberglass patch behind it. I just now got my new front haha....right now im rocking the stock bumper cuz my shiet STILL aint repainted doh. Should have it tommorow hopefully.

LOL...I went to have my car aligned today. When I picked it up they had parked it for me in a parking space with those concrete stops. I back up and...CCRRAAACCKKKK! I had a small crack there already, that just finished the job. I hope it can be fixed though. Cuz, if I buy a new bumper, than I gotta deal with all the cracks about not having skirts....;)

nope it cant be fixed its urathane so its a goner, if you have n e one fix it it will be crapy and crack again, just get some duct tape

I had cracks all over the front of my car from hitting various things, like curbs and groundhogs.....I found that if you can JB weld the crack it will hold for a long time. I just took my whole front end off a few weeks back and used about 4 things of jb weld and pieced it back together. The only problem is that the JB weld is grey. Another thing I used is Bondo Marine Epoxy. I found that it isn't as strong but it will dry white, and is plyable, unlike jb weld. I will swear by jb weld, it will hold.

uh hater dood it IS fixable. my bumper was repaired beforehand before i cracked it,. hence i said it must have been a pre-existing crack. :)

I'll see what I can do. Thanks guys for all your help. It's not so much the money. I just HATE driving around with that crack. I'm gotta go pick up my door handle tommorrow at a body shop. I'll see how much he tells me to fix it. I just have a feeling he's gonna tell me like $200 or something. I'd rather put that money in something new. I guess I'll end up using JB Weld.

Chris_Fl, Do you have an RS or GS? Reason I ask is cause you have the matching color handles/side mirrors, but no sideskirts.

if his car was a gs, he would have holes where the sideskirts used to be. i had painted mirrors/handles for a while before i got my skirts

I have an RS. I painted my mirrors and handles. Wasn't expensive either, about a buck and a half.

How did you get the matching paint for so cheap, or better yet, where did you get it? I need to know because my door handle broke and I had to buy a new one and they only were available in black. I sanded it and painted it with white spray paint but it looks like crap. TIA

My door handle broke off too (you can tell in the sig) I just dropped off the door handle at a a body shop here in town. He's gonna paint it for 40 bux. Satan here charges 45 to paint it, but you have to buy the handle from them for $85. I got my handle from Tall Mitsu.\

BTW "buck and a half" I mean $150. That included removing the handles and mirrors. Most places wanted to paint the handles while they were still on the car.

Woah! $150 is expensive, (Well at least to me it is, maybe if I had my wife driving a Jag, I wouldnt think so :D )

that's $150 for for both handles and mirrors. That was the cheapest I could find. I just hated those black handles and mirrors.

I'm paying 40 bux for the one handle.

Now that I have to pay for the Jag...everything is expensive!!!:-)

oh! Ok, i misread your post, I thought you actually paid $150 for one handle! $40 aint bad for a handle I guess. I think Im gonna go look around for a shop to do it. I bought the handle at the dealership for $65 and they wanted $170 for it painted. $105 for ONE handle. I ended up just taking the handle black.

i paid about 170 to get mine painted. they took them out too. that would suck if they left the handles in there while they painted them

this may be a little late but to the person that said it is fixable is right but wrong. you can get it fiber glassed however as soon as you tap it on something it will crack again. once poly bumpers "rip" they are done for so to speak. it is kinda the same as fiber glassing something to metal it works for alittle bit but eventualy cracks

HAHA here's a way to fix that. Go battle style. Drill like 4 holes. 2 on each side of the bumper. Get 2 tie wraps and tie wrap that thing together. Haha if you want clean the inside really well and epoxy a sheet of fiberglass to it, don't know if it'll stick and it'll probably no be rubbery anymore. The tie wrap trick is what I"m gonna do when I crap my happy face bumper strange thing is that I've never seen a crached happy face bumper though ....

Haha or epoxy the cracks hold it together till it sets and then put some touch up paint over it when it dry.

hades i have a cracked happy face bumper, damn guys that put my brakes on forgot to move the foot of the lift befor driving into the bay
