19503, Woohoo made myself a custom gauge mount! Posted by HadesOmega, Apr-10-02 04:04 PM
Well I finally got that darn EGT gauge. I haven't tapped the manifold yet so it's not really functional right now. Anyway I don't have power mirrors so I just have a piece of plastic where the power mirror controls are. So I bought a piece of plastic from TAP plastics and cut it out exactly like that plastic piece I took off. then I drilled a monster hole and stuck the gauge and my harness on/off switch on it. I think it turned out pretty well. here's an idea for you RS guys out there if you looking for places to stick gauges.

Nice drill bro, I have one just like it. I also have an oil pressure gauge in the same spot but all I did was pull the panel out and stick it there until I get my pods. :D

yeah haha I did that when I didn't have a the bezel and just the boost gauge. It worx. Haha I'd be doing that right now if I didn't have a switch to turn my harness on and off on it. At least now it looks decent now matches well with the rest of the interior dontcha think I thought of making a plexiglass one but I dind't wanna see a mass of wires behind it :)

Do you still have the square piece of plastic that went where the mirror control would be? If so, I could use to take it off your hands, I'll pay ya whatever you think it's worth + shipping. tia

I would use a drill bit for a door hole for making locks. perfect size.

the guage is tight...
the dash thing, is called a "dash topper" i have and use one in the summer cuz da 120degree heat dont work well w/my black dash ;-)
it keeps the interior not 200degrees, about 160ish after sittin out in the sun all day...
i havent slapped her on yet, but dam soon, its been 90 for a whole week, and it aint fin to chill out at all :(

yeah what's wrong with my dash mat hehe. I see no problem with it. I've had it since I bought my car. It matches the interior :)
Yeah I used one of those drill bits that have those large circular saws for cutting big ass holes in things. that was some precision drilling too cuz there like like 2mm of plastic left on each side afterwards. That plastic melts too easily too my jigsaw kept on melting it when I cut it and would just glue itself back together so I had to turn the speed down.
As for the old plastic piece it's got a hole drilled into it for my harness switch. I think I'm going to keep it. But... if I find a RS in the junkyard I"ll be sure and grab u one dude.
Haha what other switches should I stick on it NOS switches bwahahaha the one with the read dip switch cover like in gone in 60 hehe...
