On Thursday my friend's '93 Chevy 350SS truck was stolen sometime during the night.. and now I'm getting worried that my car might be next. He lives a couple houses down from where I park. My 97ESi didn't come w/ an alarm system.. so I want to get one ASAP. Then eventually I'm gonna get a low-jack system put in.
So what alarm system would you prefer?

depends on your budget, those aladin ones on group buy center look cool, most important thing is to take it to a good shop and pay for a good install, no matter what any alram company tells you, their alarm could be defeated

As a DEI installer, i of course will say any DEI brand of alarm. BUT any good reputable alarm will do, but an alarm is only a noise maker if not properly installed. Only then does it become a security system. Be sure to have it professionally installed, and EVERYTHING is hidden very well. Use several forms of disables like fuel pump, starter, igntiton spark, ect.. An alarm that is installed very well will take much longer to disable and bypass for a thief to steal. Use a motion sensor, and if you are really worried(like me) get a paging unit with it. Actually DEI has a new product that has a little picture of a car on the keychain remote, and it will show on it what is making the alarm go off(doors, shock, hatch,ect..). I have the older model pager that is like a phone pager that clips on your belt. It has 3 numbers that will flash on the led display to indicate which zone is being tripped. It will page me when the alarm is tripped, and can go up to a mile away. Also, do the obvious things like keeping valueables out of sight, take detachable faces with you, and watch where you park. Keep it well lit around the car if you can. Hope this helps..Be aware though, if the thief really wants it, in most cases if he is good enough, he will get it. Nothing you can realy do. Be sure to keep it insured against theft of the car, and theft of its contents..
