1827, My car the seismograph machine
Posted by JustOne, Mar-04-01 03:15 PM
My car seems to pick up every vibration in the road. It makes the most noise while I am driving. It seems like some new part of the interior starts to rattle every day. Not to mention when the windows are down, they rattle so bad that I am afraid that they are going to shatter.

Am I alone w/ this problem and has anyone tried to fix it???

My car seems to rattle the same at WOT around 3500rpm. The sound seems to be coming from the sunroof though, rather than the battery. if you think its the battery, just make sure the metal rod that the intake screws onto is properly tightened.

Its hard to see, but this is the intake on my car, and if you look at the battery tie down, that rod on the left side of the battery needs to be tightened pretty well or it will loosen itself and rattle.

That is also the only real connection that keeps the intake itself from rattling against the battery and the engine block.

I have that same intake that bolts to the battery bracket. Lasted for a little while, and that thing just broke right off. Plus it rubbed a nice grove in the side of the intake piping from the battery tie itself. I agree with everyone else tho, my windows rattle, but I think some of the other rattles in my car are suspension related.

Take the door apart and tighten the wondow into the track. There also should be a way (I've done it on other cars just not ours) to adjust the window to seal higher and angle in more at the top.

If you want I'll see if it's in my manual.

As far as rattles that's the prblem with the clean look of all the clips that just snap in, as opposed to screws, you can't tighten them down when they get old and don't hold as well. All you can do is take everything apart and replace them.

First... Jeff_99gs, I have the same intake (is that a Ractive?) and same color car!
About the rattle, well my windows don't really rattle when I'm driving, but if I have the window down and close the door it REALLY rattles a lot! sounds really bad.
