17819, Members with the Sensei Bumper?? Posted by nathan_allen14, Mar-23-02 08:04 AM
I am looking into getting the Sensei front bumper and I am just curious about installing it. I heard a lot about the front bumper support having to be takin off and about how much trouble the installization is. Is this true or is it just from what company you get it from??? I would really like some info on this before I get it. I have searched and all I seemed to get was mixed info. So if someone could straightin this out for me I would be thankful. Also, where is the best place to order it with the best quality? Thanx Nate

its only a pain in the ass the first time you do it...make sure you get the sinsei directly from a distributor of sinsei bumpers, not from a copy bumper.

And to answer your question about the rebar, the sinsei requires removing the reinforcement bar completely from what everyone tells me. There isn't room for it really on the sensei.

i don't know if the original rebar fits under there, because i had already removed it for my invader front end last year... but this year i fabricated my own steel re-bar, and it fit under the bumper perfectly. i used a 4 sided, square metal beam, like the ones the hold up some street signs. i just bought one that did not have all those little holes drilled in it. i know it won't do "too" much more in an accident, but at least i can attempt to tell my insurance that i have a reinforcement bar up front. being four sided, pretty thick metal, i took a sledgehammer at full swing, and couldn't manage to bend the bar. hey, it'd be suitable in a low speed bump, rather than cracking the radiator. imo
