ok, so as u prolly know, my interior is white/blue right now, but i am going to change to black/silver and i need a few questions answered:

1.) Should I try to sand as much of the old paint of as I can, if so, what grit should I use? I read 350 is good for sanding old paint off.

2.) I am usin SEM paint. Do I still need to put a primer down first?

Im in the process of repainting my entire car... first I used a scotch-brite pad for the rough spots.... then I used 240 grit in a DA sander.... then I used 320 grit and since have used 600 grit and wet sanded the entire car twice.Im filler priming it early next week then block sanding then hopefully painting it late next week...(Ive been working on it for about a month and a half now)... Im in the process of masking doors, hatch and hood.....I was told to do it in steps.... and TAKE YOUR TIME... I wouldnt go any more coarse than 240 grit with a block to start with.... also I was told that paint wont stick well to a shiny surface (wont grip into) so sand down anything thats shinny....(you dont neccasarily need to go to bare metal... I had to do all this work b/c of a shitty 2nd paint job.... hopefully this wasnt too long.....

whats your problem? i wasnt trying to be an ass. i just used the reply with quote so he knew what i was talking about.

all I got to say for the exterior is aircraft remover hehe that stuff rules. As for the interior I would wet sand it with 600 grit no need to primer that is just to make sure the area you are painting is one color (at least that is what I was told).

i like 180 to take off old paint.. then clean and primer

then wetsand the primer

and spray
