I know that for several places where you want to change the colors of lights, people have found that using a colored plastic film works best. Several people have asked about what kind of plastic to get, and I would say that color gels for stage lighting would probably work best. They come in huge range of colors, and are relatively inexpensive(~$6 for 21" x 24"), but best of all they are made for the purpose of coloring stage lights, so they should stand up to the heat of any light on your car.

Any place that sells DJ equipment should carry those gels. They're generally fairly cheap.

I tried using those to color my interior lights in blue, but the light was just too dim in blue. (Red seemed to work fine though) I'm moving on to LEDs now.

thats what I want a really blue look inside. It can be dark just as long as it casts a really blue color. any suggestions on what color of blue will give me what im looking for? Bright blue, Midnight blue what?

i had blue in my car, looked nice, get some clue cellophane(its thick plastic wrap) and cut it out the shape of the lights, the more sheets you use, the darker and more blue it will become

The great stuff about these gels is that if you want more color, just buy a darker gel, no need to layer 'em in. I would say the bluer you want it to be, the darker you should go, but the light will be dimmer. can this stuff be melted?

Can I make a soup out of it by heating it then dipping my lights in it.

I know LLDPE can be melted and it won't loose its color when it is mixed, but can this "poly-carbonate" stuff do the same?

The Rosco website lists the melting point at 220° C (428° F). Not sure if it would actually coat anything though.

This is actually what is used for your blue high beams indicator and your green left and right arrow indicators.

ive tried that blue sharpie marker trick and it works but its just not blue enouph. If you just want a hint of blue then go with the sharpie.

could one of you guys tell me how you got the gel sheets to stick on to the gauges?(cluster gauges, ac, ect...)

just cut them to the same spececs as the gauges.. and place them behind the gauges.

k cool but what about the one for the ac controls... how do you get behind those...
I know how to get behind the cluster gauges so thats cool.

im not sure you would be able to use the gel for the hvac assembly without really doing something custom and cutting and such.. just because of the way its designed.
