Ok, I'm painting my door panels this week and I unscrewed everything so that the panel is off, except the power window wiring. How do I disconnect it. I tried tugging at it, but I was afraid I'd f up the wiring.

On the backside of the harness there's a little tab to push in while you're pulling it out. It's kinda far up on the harness. Grab it and PULL... it'll come off.

you can also unscrew the 4 screws that hold the black housing to the armrest thingy. that way if you dont want any paint on your buttons you won't have to worry about taping them up and such.

Ugh... I always dred taking off my doors because I hate that damn little button. It hurts the hell out of my fingers.

im glad i have manual windows. i used to take my panels off all the time. just six screws and pull the crank off and youre done

I have the power windows as well and its just as easy as if you had the crank for the windows. After taking them of the second time its really easy. You just take off the door handle cover and unscrew the pull off. Then just disconnect the power window controls. I just took my door panels off again yesterday to (rehopolster) <---spelling the fabric for the arm rest. I redid it with a black vinyl and embrodered a silver mitsu logo on it as well. ill post pics as soon as I get them back in. Not hard at all IMO. instead of embrodering the logo just put a sticker instead looks just as good.

Question: Has anyone painted the armrest? I did and it stays tacky and will not dry. How do I prevent this or I should say how do you do it so its not tacky? Has anyone done this with success? Lemme know...

i think you have to use a paint that will stick to vinyl. try plasti-kote vinyl paint

OK thx i'll give it a try. should I use a diff type of clear coat as well or the same thing ive used on the rest of my panels in my car?

i dont even think youll need a clear coat, it will come out pretty shiny. im gonna do mine in a few weeks

You can't paint vinyl...it won't stick...


You can dye it however, with Plasti-Kote Spray Vinyl Dye. That will come out very very nice.

Just use MANY MANY very light coats and let it dry between coats and it will come out nice.

I did...I was just adding more info to it... Thanks.

possibly try a hair dryer....????? Prop it against something and let it set...... just a thought.... that is to help it cure..

ok thx so what should I take off the old paint and clear coat with? I just want to get it right the second time around
