14634, Sparco Speed or other non-reclinable seats
Posted by Thunderous_Talon, Feb-11-02 06:19 PM
I am kinda looking at the Sparco Speed seat, like the sprint but its got that memory foam shit. I am not that tall 5'8". i've heard that the seats dont reach as close as the stockers do. i kinda like to be up close. so i can get my hole foot on the floor if needed. Can anyone throw me some info on this? also wheres a good place to get em?
here's the seat and info.

TO Thunderous Talon,

I went with the Momo Rookie seat which is very close the Sparco Sprint you're looking at. Its non-reclinable and took some time to get use to, but I love it. The seat really holds you in place in the corners.

Just a couple of things:

The Momo seat is fairly small, so larger guys may not find it very comfortable. I'm 6'0" 150 pounds and fit fairly comfortably. This may hold true for the Sprint, since they are both entry level seats.

mounting the seat is potentially very expensive (if you buy the seat bracket) or very time consuming (if you fabricate your own custom mount)

Do not get a seat that is too big or fancy i.e. Momo 10,000 Lakes, becuase it may not fit in the space properly. My first attempt at installation yielded poor results becuase the seat was not properly aligned with the steering wheel.

If you are thinking about getting a pair of seats, DO NOT go with non-reclinables because your passengers may hate you. Getting in and out of my seat is sometimes interesting.

Just check on ebay and i'm sure you will find something.

hope this helps.

Thanx SlowGSX, i appreciate the info. I am not big at all so i'll be fine in the seat, i drove a car w/ a sprint seat before and i fell in love. reminded me of my bucket seat in my old chevelle but far superior. I kinda want the speed because its got that memory foam stuff, like those beds you get in at Brookestone or Sharper Image... lol. i just think that'd be really comfortable. i couldnt do that to my passengers when the time comes to get the second seat it'll be a reclinable.

Do racing seats lower the seat height, and does this help give more leg room, not lenghth, my legs only have like 1/2 in on either side to move and its a bitch. I also want to get a racing wheel for this purpose.
