Ok, I am sporting a black and tan interior, with vinyl doors.
I would like to paint my tan portions black. However, I've come across this issue...

I bought some vinyl spray at the local Discount Autoparts and sprayed that on a plastic piece in my trunk. It scratches off easily and peels away. Im guessing that the vinyl spray would probably work well on vinyl because its flexibility, but I think it might actually scratch off easily too.

Anyway, what paint are you guys using to paint your plastic peices (like your rear speaker panels)? I do not want a glossy paint, In the interior of a car I think it looks cheesy.

What are the best vinyl sprays to use that are not glossy? I want a dull finish.

Kap'n Mike has inspired me to do my headliner also, but I am going to use black vinyl instead.

nick use SEMS paint if you dont want the shinny finish.. my silver has been on my whole int for over 1.5 years now and is stilll good.. i mean if u manhandle the panels it might mess it up but i think ull be ok.

sorry to be off subject but I wanted some info on your roof. I have been looking for that ever since Fast and Furious. Its pretty much the only thing I like about that car, and that it somehow had 7 gears haha. Im just wondering how muhc u paid for it, where u got it. I got a sunroof though but Im thinking about switching roofs possibly cause Im thinking on making my car a T-Top and while Im at it maybe do that air duct also. On another post someone said it was like $100. Sorry to be off subject but it looks hot and I must have it.

I used some auto spray, primer, and clear from advance auto parts. Plasti-kote. Others use krylon.If you sand, primer, and wet sand, then clean when smooth, dry, paint, paint, paint some more or whenever it looks nice, then clear it real good.

you gotta sand and clean it real good to make the paint stick

i use PlastiKote myself as well. not shiny at all, looks nice. I didnt sand at all, just cleaned the hell outta it real good with soap/antibacterical spray shit, and a good brillo pad sponge. Holds up nice, no peeling or scratching.

I just soap and watered all the pieces (threw em in the tub with some soapy water and let them sit for a while) then pulled them out and steel wooled them...not even too much either...just enough to rough them up a little. Here is my secret ingredient though: BULLDOG paint sticker stuff. Just follow the directions on the can (I think another company makes something called "bond-ease"...probably the same thing) After that i just sprayed a couple coats of color and a couple of clear.

the reason why it didn't stick was cause you didn't sand the part down. you needed to do that to remove the part of this stuff they put on the outside of the plastic. i had the same problem when is first did my interior and then redid it by cleaning, sanding, cleaning, priming, painting, and clear coating and it turned out great. i haven't put the parts back in cause i was gonna dynomat the whole car. but if you use the vinyl spray on sanded and then primed parts, it'll stick. definately use vinyl on the doors and dash(if you do it) it sticks fine on mine

Hey nick, I just painted mine useing sem, go to cocoa auto body on US1 across from scottys. Get the paint and the sem plastic prep, thats what I used
