14248, Front Bumper Change Posted by 97_ESi, Feb-08-02 11:15 AM
Alright guys,
I might be getting a Blitz bumper in the Spring....I pretty much know how to take of the factory Talon bumper but will the Blitz bumper bolt right on? Will I have to take it to a shop first?
After all said and done, how hard will it be to take of the Blitz and put on the stock for the winter??
Thanks, Mike.

Well Blitz are mostly made for 97-99 headlights first off, so you'd have to convert. And NO fiberglass bumper will just bolt right on. Most likely a shop will have to fit it perfectly for you, and do minor bondo work to smooth it out etc. You could install it yourself and then have a shop work on it. But I would just take off the stock bumper (to save labor) and have a shop do the whole install. That way you won't drill holes in the wrong places...

Alright cool.
The bumper is actually coming off another Talon - so its already been installed at least once. That should save me on labor and stuff to install it, no?
I seem to remember reading the front will fit with the 95-96 headlights (95-97 Talon) you just have to do something...don't know what though. Anyone remember?

Well if the front is for 97-99 eclipse headlights, then you have to modify the fiberglass to fit the older headlights. But if you said it was fine for another talon, then maybe it was already modified?

Unfortunately the guy used the 97-99 eclipse headlights so I'm out of luck. But was wondering if I just had to cut the fiberglass (wow sure sounds alot easier then it actually is :D )
Thanks

I think the 97-99 headlights sit farther back, so I think you will have to cut some fiberglass, and also add some after you cut. You will also have to bondo to smooth it out. If you've never done fiberglass and bondo work before, I would pay a shop to do it. Probably anywhere from 50 to 100 bucks.

I'll let you know later - it's not a definite for the Blitz bumper. Plus I might keep it for a crappy winter bumper so I don't wreck the Blitz.

ok, cool...
do a lot of people go from eclipse to talon bumper?
I think the talon front looks better than mine(96).

I don't think so....seems like alot more go the newer Eclipse bumper then the Talons. Personally I love the Talon (97+) bumper...very aggressive.
