Are there any eclipse wide-body kits? Also I was reading a magazine with a nice supra and it said he had his stock body "messaged" to make it look wide-body, what do they do to do this?

wide body kits are not ment to be put on a car that can be driven... the reason being is eventually they fall apart.... anything molded will eventually crack. If you are going to spend 2g's for a kit and god know how much to put it on and then repaint the whole car, you don't want it to fall apart. I highly discourage peeps about putting wide body kits on or molding cause they will crack. It might not happen right away but sooner or later it will. I think eclipse804 can back me up on this since he works with fiberglass alot more than i do.....

Yes, if you daily drive your car, and try to mold a fiberglass wide body kit in, you're asking for it. Think about how many people have problems with basic body kits cracking from hitting stuff. Now if it's a wide body kit, once it cracks, you'll have to remold it to the car. If done right, your wide body kit can last for a couple years probably if you take care of it good, but sooner or later something will happen. But some shops just do a really bad job - there's one shop in socal, which I won't name (but they are pretty popular and well known for crazy conversion) - well, within the past year, 3 of their cars have come to our body shop to ask us to fix their conversions and wide body kits because they all cracked. When people do bad conversions, they leave a lot of stress on the car. For example, there was a skyline headlight conversion that was actually pushing up on the wide body fender, causing that to crack. It looks good the day it leaves the body shop, but a couple months later, it all falls apart. But if you don't drive your car that much, I guess wide body could be an option if you're into show.

Why is it that we can put bumpers and side-skirts on without much problem but a wide-body kit is more fragile?

Because it's molded onto the metal of the car (if its a fiberglass wide body kit). And most people with normal kits end up cracking their kits eventually too. I cracked mine in a couple months, and kept hitting and scraping. My front would break off every other time I exited the driveway of my old apt, so I got rid of it. You have to be really careful basically.

it's not just the wide body kits it's molding... if you mold your sides or bumpers they will sooner or later crack too. But most of the time the aftermarket bumber are one piece that is why they don't crack... the wide body is molded on to the orig body. Listen to eclipse 804 he see's a lot more of that shit than i do out here in nj/nyc area... it's mostly due to our roads ... you just can't compare the roads they have out in cali to the ones in the north east...

ahha u said if you messaged the body... well this is what you do.. get some nice sensual oils..
put them on ur hands and rub them into the rear quater panels doors and fenders.. work them in really good.. do this for a few night .. and it should grow wide.

erin with the quwhees kit doesnt drive hers that much ..she said cuz shegot another car.. and its cracking

my car looks wider cuz the wheels i traded for have a diff ofset so they stick in some.. it looks kinda cool ud have to look at the car from the right angle

what about the erbuni/kaminari widebody (whichever name it is, the yellow one) does that one have to be molded on??

the kaminari looks like a wide ass 95-96 to me. I think it comes with new bumbers and does not have to be molded in. The main thing is probably the front. I have seen a lot of street cars with the rear bumpers molded to look smoother. I always here mold anything you want except the front.

I've seen some awesome widebody kits, but I wouldn't do it unless it was a show only car. (well actually I would if I were rich) My body shop won't touch a kit. They said the only way it would stand a chance would be to weld a flange to the original body then overlap the kit, use bondo, etc. too much work.

Well if its molded on to the body than I can understand. Well then what is wheel offest, is that how far the rims stick out from the mounting points? How much do i need to fill the wheel well?

I thinbk the Kaminari widebody is metal actaually...the fenders at least...so they wont crack...the front I dunno.....

none of the kaminari widebody kit is metal.
