12914, Window Seals!
Posted by tmack104, Jan-25-02 04:57 AM
I jsut got my 97' gs , it was a florida car, that is good and bad, good cause suspenion is in great condition ( but im gonna be lowering it soon anyway) and bad cause the black seals were not take care of. They are all faded and coroding from the heat and salt. I tried slicone spray several coats, and it helps some, but not that well, is there any other way i can fix em' up, or get new ones cheap, but i would rather not replace them , a pain i would guess. Any suggestions?

well, if you're talkin about the rubber part that follows the window from the mirror along the top of the window, and down where the door opens, vegastoy had problems with his.

we went to a junkyard, and ripped better lookin ones off an old talon esi. they werent perfect, and there are a llot of screws that you will need, and metal brackets that slips inside the rubber.

use armorall wipes, or vinyl shine.

I had the same problem, they looked like shit. So I taped my car off so I wouldn’t hit the paint around the window. And used some sand paper VERY VERY carefully sanded them. It was a pain in the ass. After doing one side, I thought there has to be a better way to do this. So I took the other side off and did it. After sanding all of the crap off, I painted them. They look brand new now.
