They have been known to deteriorate over time, and eventually go out. }>

yeah. that's why some of the local shops around here don't even install them anymore, b/c the customers end up coming back and wanting to uninstall them after they go out. }>

I got acautotechnics. They haven't dimmed any after about 6 months or so. I love 'em. Reverse indiglos. I didn't wire the regular way tho. I tapped into my tail lamp fuse under the hood, thru the firewall with some extra wire.

Indiglo's are made out of 'EL' or Electro Luminescent Paper.
Basically, they have a half-life like a fluorescent bulb. They'll rarely go out, but they decrease in brightness quickly then hold a lower brightness for a long time. In my applications, I usually get about 4000 hours of good bright light. After that, it takes several years or more (or never) for them to go out all the way.
If you have color adjustable gauges (multi color indiglow), turning it to a greener tint will make it last a little longer. Blue tint makes its lifespan shorter because it's a higher frequency.
