hey bro i got a question.
Have you had any customers add flake to there paint or clearcoat when they have repainted it. I'm asking because one of the paint shops out here uses only ppg and they were telling me that is will change the color of the paint. I tried to tell him that adding pearls can do this, but he still said that this will happen with flakes. Have you had any experience with this or is he just trying to blow some smoke up my ass. I'm about to paint the car and I wanted to add flakes to the clear coat just to give it a better look. Let me know if I should do it or just leave it alone

i dont how it would change the color of the paint.. but u never know

Pearl looks much better in my opinion. It makes the whole area reflect a different color. Flake will just look like you put glitter in your paint. It will be a sparkly looking reflection, but won't really be like the whole piece is reflecting a different color. Kinda hard to explain..but a car with white with blue pearl will reflect blue under light. But if it had blue flake instead, it will sparkle blue, and look like it has blue glitter on it. The glitter look won't be really spread out evenly though, so I like pearls better...

Yeah flakes dont look as good as pearl in my opinion. There is a black Prelude where I live and it has pink flakes. It looks like he dropped his girlfriends glitter all over his car. Very ricey looking and doesnt look as attractive as pearl.

ya when/if i get my car repainted...im going the same color, but with pearl over it.

the paint i'm going to use already has two pearls in it adding another pearl changes the whole color. we tried adding more of one pearl but it changes the paint color. almost milky!!! even if we put the pearl in the clear it will change the color. We found that out with my buddies truck. now it looks like the barney mobile.
