12000, hose kit?'s Posted by vegasdsmr, Jan-13-02 06:52 PM
anyways, i just searched for the answer to this ?, but couldnt find it. i just picked up the larson hose kit, and i have tons of pics of peoples engine bays with hose kits. after lookin at the pics, i did the pcv hoses and the coolant resevoir hoses.
i dont want to get in over my head when i start rippin hoses off conections.
anybody wanna fill me in on how to go about takin off the other connections for the kit while not screwing up things.
i still have lotsa hose left, just dont want to pull the wrong thing too hard, and F* up my ride.

Well just keep in mind the RRE kit is meant for vacuum lines only (not to flow liquids). They don't recommend you replace any coolant lines etc. You can do the coolant reservoir overfill hose, and the rest are just pull off and put back on. Do one at a time so you don't get confused. For the hose from the throttle body to the engine, with the PCV valve in the middle, just carefully use pliers to loosen the clamps and replace it.

i think i mighta confused you. i already did the hoses you spoke of, that part was easy. its when i am replacing the others. i have no clue where to start. i seen totally different setups in peep's engine bays, and i dont know if i use this for that, or that for this.
i figure someone with the larson would speak up.
thanks tho.

I have the Larson kit. What other hoses are you talking of? The larson kit is only made to replace vacuum hoses, and our cars don't have much vacuum hose at all. Some people with hose kits have wire loom to cover up stock wiring etc, so there is a lot more colored hose under the hood. On the RRE site, there is a pic of a 2gnt with the larson kit installed. Just make sure you have those, and ya you'll probably have some extra hose. Everything that's supposed to be replaced is pretty easy and should take 20 mins total. If you want to cover up other things, buy some colored wire loom from stereo shops (most only have black though).
Edit: I got the picture shown below. That is all the hose you should replace. And in the lower left corner, the guy actually replaced a coolant hose, but RRE advised not to do that. It should only flow air, no liquids.

hey sean .. ok heres the deal
do what marcus said.. those silicone hoses are only for vacuum
but what i did was take a razor and make a slit.. so you can wrap it around existing stock hose.
thats how you see so many differnt types of it.
ill try to take some close ups of mine.. but u can see here in my pic all the silver hoses.. i use a starter kit from hose techniques.. about 10ft of 4 sizes..
have some of the smaller size left still

ok yea sean check your damn inbox and get at me foo.. ahaha

I got a fast kit from hose techniques. It gives u 64 feet- 32 of 1 color in assorted sizes, and 32 of another color. Not done yet, but you can see where I am with it.

I covered the strings on the cargo cover, and my hood prop. I have to get the battery out sometime to get the washer fluid tank out and replace the last hose for that. And if I can find any uncovered or un replaced hoses, I have a little left.
