A lot of cf hoods split after they hit something. There is a layer of fiberglass underneath the carbon fiber, so it's really like two separate things bonded together by the resin. If something impacts it, the layers can split apart.

marcus kit it on the nose.. yes the 2nd time it flew up .. it spilt it pretty bad..

when i open the hood now.. the left side is all hanging from it.. nasty.. im going to get some resin and try to seal it up

It "might" crack again, but I guess you don't have much to lose, Just tape off the carbon fiber part real good so you don't accidentally get resin on there.
