i painted my calipers this weekend, and took lotsa pics. once developed, i will throw em up on my site for yall to check out.

once i was finished, i had to limp the car to the auto store to get sum hosing cuz i broke the pcv hose.
right when i pulled in, the dude who was standin outside commented on the brakes. i was all right on, first guy to really see em gave me props.

it is only 4 bolts to take off the caliper and mounting bracket.

so you took off the calipers without having to bleed the brakes, or just painting it right on the wheel? give me some quick instructions and what kind of paint,

two cans of 1200 degree paint, one can of brake cleaner17mm socket for fronts, 14mm socket for rears.
breaker bar,

4 bolts each, 2 for caliper/(thing that holds pads) and 2 for mounting bracket.

i took off the mounting bracket, and left the caliper connected tot he brake line in the wheel well. i used leftover wire to jerry rig the caliper to stay suspended in the air, and newspapered everything off.

for the rear, i didnt paint the drum, cuz i didnt wanna take it off. i did the same with the caliper and mounting bracket as i did with the fronts.

i put 3-4 coats on each part, and i think 5-6 should be enuff. with mine, there is imperfections if you stare up close, but from 5ft+, they look sweet.

hope that answers your ?

I have a sandblaster at my house and was thinking about blasting them then repainting them. Were yours really dirty? Mine look terrible with my new rims, but i cant decide what color to paint them. I thought about matching my cars color, but i dont think i wll find "copper" high temp paint. So maybe i will paint them gloss black?

Why Paint them black? again they are black or kinda with all the dust on shit on them, why would you paint them black again? i have a red car, i would paint them red...

Well i would like for them to stand out... But I dont think red would look good with my color car. I figured black because it would hide the dirt and grime.

paint them blue, :)

my calipers were very dirty!!! fronts worse than the rears.

i bought a few brushes to clean them off, one bigger one, and then smaller ones, like golf club brushes. also, i bought STP brake cleaner. that shit got me so high from inhalin it, it was funny. killed all my grass in the front yard too :)

i took pics of the install, and the clean caliper vs. dirty ones.

i have 5 exposures left, and im savin them for my 2inch drop thats happenin this weekend.

once they are developed, ill do a small writeup on my website.

I painted my rear set black when I did a drum/disc conversion. I'm very happy with the results. Stock-ish looking and clean, yet dressy and not rustish.

I've seen porsches with the calipers painted red from the factory. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the cars, but I would have painted the calipers silver or something a little less showy/tacky.

Everyone has their own opinions though.

Do all porsches come with Brembo cross drilled rotors? The ones with the red calipers always have cross drilled rotors. Maybe it's part of some package?

yellow sounds good.. but yes they can get dirty.. but its gonna happen anyways.. even dirty they will still tend to look better painted..

i have thin 5 spoke rims so my brakes show alot. i painted them bright red, like what youd see on a stock porsche or something. it makes the car look alot better, and the red looks like a performance thing. yellow, blue etc looks like just paint.
