Sup all?
Hope everyone is having a good holiday season.

I wanted to know if someone could post a description of the indiglow needle kit from importintelligence. Does this thing look like something that we could make ourselves? Does anyone have a picture of just the item themselves before installation? I really want to have those glowing needles but don't want to pay the loot.

I'm working on a really kool idea that has something to do with gauge needles and fiber optics. I'll hopefully have something to post on that in the next month or so.

thanx
pop

sweet you are the man... from what i hear all it is is a small round indiglow material sim to the stuff that the indiglo gauges are made of or it could be s small round strip with very small leds on it, but i have yet to see it nor want to spend money on it so... me, i just changed the color of the needles.. works great, but still needs some work..

i had been wondering where you had gone.. happy holidays to you too

the needle kit was simple.. after i saw it, i think i could have made up something of my own, and not paid 70 bux.. basically.. it was wires (power, ground) that led to a dimmer switch. from the switch there were leads to the leds. the leds were on ring shaped stickers. the stickers are small enough to hide under the black part of the needles. not sure how the leds were stuck on the stickers, im just guessing some sort of glue. the hardest part would be finding leds small enough to meet clearance (height wise). they are small enough to not hit the top of the needle bases.. for the smaller needles (the two outside ones) have only one led on it.. each led facs towards the inside (pointing towards the speedo). the speedo/tach have three on them.. one on the top of the sticker, and one on each side... hope this helps.. one recomendation, i would use at least two for the smaller needles. they look good, and are bright, and i doubt they would be too hard to make.. i dont have any pics, but let me know if you have any more questions.. help this helps

oh yea.. poplife.. i remember your idea with the needles.. sounds like a good plan to me...

forgot to mention.. for these kits, you need to sand the color off the needles, and they recomend paiting them white, so that the leds reflect brightly. i painted mine silver, they are still bright, but if i had done them white im sure they would be brighter.. and i would have done them white, but i have white gauge faces, and it would be a little hard to see them in the day.

yep.. i thinki know of those type of leds that were being used.. they looked like little squares didnt they.. if that's the case.. then they should be the same type that are used in most nokia cell phones to light up the backlighting.. i bet they would be a bit pricey for just the leds.. hmm might have to do some looking and experimenting again soon...

i know how to make indiglo needles. its really not that hard. i can tell you guys if you want to know. there is nothing to it. i did it and it looks awesome with the reverse gauges that i got. i got the description from a guy who did it on his nissan. just takes a little bit of converting and stuff. all and all it's simple.

Hey bedlam, go ahead and post what you know about making the gauges and one of the moderators can have it added to the how to's page.

Welcome to the board too!

hey bedlahm (chris) well since we live so close together you want to make me some.. aha i can come to milton and pick them up.

if so let me know howmuch it cost u guys

oh yea guys how did u take your needels off?? which grit sand paper did u use on the orange on the back of the needels.. how hard was it to take it off.. and which paint did u use on them?

i have a lot of silver sems spray sitting in my house and ill prob use silver..i have reverse indiglos now.. but if i can id much rather do all my lights behind the guages blue and have the black with say silver needels with blue behind them. that would be bad since my whole int is silver and black.. and ireally dont care much for the indiglos. so any help would be much appreciated

TIA

u can get indiglos off ebay really cheap..

they are simple to install

lay the indiglows over the stock guages.. they slide right over the needle..

then they should have 1 wire for each guage .. they all have lil clips on the end..

then u get a long wire with the other end of the clip.. and it has a power and ground. all u have to do is run a power and ground.. u can run the power to the parking lights so they turn on when u turn ur ligts on.. or did the lazy way and run the power from the fuze box inside the car.. and the ground near there.. and then clip in the parts clips.. and ur done.. i drilled a hole under where that lil black part is that goes around guages so ran the wires down through them...

NO I DID IT THE LAZY WAY. . .

I put the positive and negative wires under the connection for one of the dash lights so when those come one, the gauges do too. No cut wires on anything! I can take them out in about 10 minutes too!

$50 on ebay, 5 colors and 5 brightness levels.

bro all you need is the guages.. and maybe some butt splices or they have ones where u dont have to cut .. just put the wires in it and close this lil thing on them.. (whatever its called)... and a screwdriver and a socket with 10 or 12mm.. u can take off the piece under the steering wheel to get to the parking lights wire.. should be white and green or balck and green.. its on the www.2gnt.com site

ok well since i don't know how to load pictures on here and was planning on putting it on my site anyways, i went ahead and put it on my site. and once you see i know that you will say, "hey that looks like the stuff on the 2gnt site." yes it is. that is only a temp thing so that i can get the site running and so that 2gnt can see who it would look. the page you go to is the only page that is running for now. the address is www.angelfire.com/fl5/import/indigloneedles.html.
That should be it. all you have to do is copy and paste that addy into your address bar and there you go. and don't frag me cause of it being from a nissan. those directions were pretty easy to follow. all you have to do is adapt them to your car and boom there you go. it was pretty easy. i would put how i did it but i followed these directions. if you use the radio shacks ones you won't have them so bright in your face like regular indiglos. i am also going to post on my website how to make hyper relay bulbs, how to make grills(curtosy of 2gnt) and a few other things. i'll post a message letting you guys know when it's up. the site will include a mods page, message forum(when i figure out how to do that), fan pics, fan favs, club pics and a few other things.

dude.. good job.. that was awesome for you to come up with that.. and it only differs slightly from the way that im going to rig up my needles.. i have already done somethig else that totally changed the look of my gauges along with a few of my friends.. ill post on that later on.. good write-up too that will be very helpfull to those wanting to do such a mod.. which reminds me to get on the ball and get my writeup's done..

yeah i got some other things too that i have posted on my site that i am making. so far it looks awesome. i also know how to change the console lights, like in the ac/heater control, and stuff like that. it's really cool. i also put some things on there from 2gnt so that i could have a quick referance and not have to go here and use all those links. if anyone thinks i need to put anything else on there from this site let me know. i just put some of the basic stuff that i think everyone would want to know how to do.
