10872, A question for the paint gods...
Posted by JustOne, Dec-20-01 02:39 PM
I am going to be doing major engine work on my car in a month or two as soon as I find a new block. While the engine is out I am going to paint my car. I want to do some sort of custom job, i.e. flames or something. So, my question is where do you get the patterns for the flames? Do you have to make them your self or is there a place to order them from? I know that you can print them out on a plotter but is there a company that already has them made up?

I dunno. You can get a car airbrushed like that green one with the crazy designs. I think if you ask a paint shop, they will handle it all for a set price. A big set price. Clean car by the way.

while he mentioned it, I'd say get graphics first to see if you like a design. Them if you do, get the outline of the graphics done, and I think a paint shop could paint inside the lines after sanding between the lines.

I work in a body shop and we primarily mask out the flames and graphics by hand (most others do as well) and it looks tits. I've also tried computer preforms and they just dont turn out right and is actually harder to do. So the most cost efficient way is to find a body man in your area that can lay them by hand.

Don't know. I made him an offer and I am still waiting on his decision. I have almost what he is asking. I told him if he can wait a month or so I could prob. buy the whole thing for the price he is asking. I am just waiting on his decision. It would be cool to keep the engine in the 2gnt family. So, if he doesn’t take my offer someone here should buy it.
