Haha, well I locked my keys in my car last night, and it was to cold to get em out. So I took at it this morning, and I'm one of the unlucky ones whose lock buttons don't work. I figured since I couldn't find an easier way than just a coat hanger on the web to do it I'd let you know how I did it.

Well I tried it first, spent 30 minutes getting the hanger to the point where it would go over the handle and would pull, bending the loop out of the hanger and leaving me at step 1.

So then I decided I would twist the end of the hanger, got some shoe lace and tied a slip knot on the end. This worked wonders, and made it 100x easier. I hooked it, pulled it tight, and this gave the hanger some leverage and it popped it open easy.

Now I'm off to make another key. (snapped the old spare off in the trunk -.-)

you pickup the keyless entry remote from ebay, you have to match the model /number.

Or carry a spare key in your wallet (or somewhere safe, I.E. not in the car).

I've got so many spares it's not even funny.

I carry a "credit card" key in my wallet. AAA will cut you one for free if you're a member. They're a little flimsey but work great. I even had success in the ignition switch with it.

I once locked my keys in the car and had to use a coat hanger to pull the trunk release. It was a little bit embarassing to climb in through the trunk to unlock the door in a busy parking lot. I promptly got a spare key cut and carry it in my wallet at all times.

Even if you only drive other peoples cars, you need a AAA membership. Mine has paid for itself so many times over in tows and the like, it's ridiculous.

Figure it's around $100/yr for the "Premimum/Plus" membership. Still less than the cost of a standard tow, and you get up to 100 miles of towing, 5 times a year. I'm not sure how many lock-out services you get, but I want to say one per month. You just can't beat that deal... Unless you own your own wrecker/locksmith.

I had AAA for a few years, but never used their services once. My car never fails to get where it needs to go, I never lock my keys inside. I know some people who hide a spare key underneath our taillights where there's a ton of room.

I always wanted to know how Kaptainmike placed his secret unlock handle on Lois, since it had shaved handles.

I'm with EZ. I have also had AAA for yearsss now and have never once had to use it. Also never locked my keys in my car.
