Quick question, on the side moldings ( I guess it's the bump gaurd or something) going from fender to the rear quarter panel, what can I use to get that glue off. I've tried goo gone and got nowhere. Now I'm just kind of scratching my head.

You can try spraying some brake clean solvent on it and letting it soak a little bit onto it. And always, plastic razors work well for removing double sided tape and stubborn expoys from the exterior, since its plastic, it doesnt scratch the paint.

Howevere, not sure what glue the factory used..never been into a talon door before, but I would give the brake solvent a try.

Will the brake clean take away the clear coat though? I was thinking about trying it, but I dont want it to take away any paint, even though it's going to get painted anyway. Also, where do I get plastic razor blades from? First I've ever heard of them.

No, it wont take away the paint. What I do at work when replacing moldings on vehicles that dont require going to the bosy shop it to spray the effected area, and wipe off the over spray or dripping solvent, wait a few minutes, come back, spray it again, let it soak into it, and then use a plastic razor over it, slowly spraying more solvent on it if you need. Just wipe away the access dripping of the colvent off the vehicle. Also, dont spray the solvent on full blast, just barely push down on the trigger if you want to call it, just enough to get some on the area.

You can get plastic razors probably from home depot/lowes maybe, or a body shop supplies store would deffinately have some. I always just purchase packs of them from our tools guy. I can mail one to you if you want.

Not yet, still haven't had a chance to get the plastic razors. I was off today and ended up pulling the bent valves out of my blown head that im building for the eclipse. And sadly, I work at autozone and have yet to get some brake clean. But I'll probably knock it out my next day off, and I'll post before and after pics.

O yea, you said you could get me some plastic razors. I'm going to check lowes in a few minutes, but just in case, how much for some shipped to 23897?

I cut the adhesive on my door bumpers using slices of old credit cards. I would cut a new edge when the existing one got dull. I removed the remaining adhesive with a rubber eraser wheel I got from a body shop supplier. The wheel is about 3 inches in diameter and has a stud to thread into a mandrel for use on a hand drill. That worked pretty well.

3M makes a wonderful product that is a wax and adhesive remover. Spray it on, let it soak about 2 minutes and wipe off. Just be careful with it. If your clear coat is flaking or scratched up, it can take the paint off with the adhesive.

Yeah, thats where I messed up. Originally, I always wanted to remove it because I just finished the 2gb swap and that was all that's left from the 2ga talon part. But it wasn't until one day I noticed it was seperating a little on the rear part of the drivers door that I decided to try and pull it off.

Long story short, I ended up taking a flatblade and tried to run it down the door. Needless to say, that's as far as I got with that (due to long a** time to do just that part, and scratched down to paint from the D*** flatblade). Car will be getting painted in a few months though, so that's not really a big deal. I just wanted to see if there was a quicker, easier, damageless (if that's even a real word) way to get the rest of it off.

I think I might end up having to tackle it next week due to a huge hit in funds ( towed for illegal exhaust- $230 for a 26 mile tow plus 6 tickets to boot. I even got one for a CLEAR liscense plate cover), so I'll weigh my options and go from there. But thanks for all the help guys.
