I know that in 97 the Eclipse headlight shape changed and I thought that the housings all changed to black housings. I'm looking at purchasing a 97 RS for parts but it has chrome housings that look like stock. is this normal or some odd aftermarket setup?

Ive seen aftermarket 2gb's that have chrome housings :)

Do you have a pic of the front of the car?

If it bothers you that much, you could paint the housings black. I would, chrome is nasty!

They could be some chrome ebay headlights, but i dont know why would would want them over black.

Wow that front bumper has seen better days, but anyway it looks like the lights are out of a 2ga. Have you seen the car yet? It doesn't look like they have the bubble on the turn signals but its hard to see from the pic. Would definately go with the black ones if you replace em.

I'll buy the chrome ones from you if you get this and replace them.

you might be right. I was hoping to look at it last weekend but I might be able to this sunday.

Unless by chance someone converted the bumpers to a newer style. From looking at the front, it looks like the headlights either sit right on the bumper in the corners, near where the mistu symbol goes, or it looks like they go behind the bumper. It doesn't even look like it has the little bumps where the corner lights are. Have you actually seen it in person or just looked at the pics?

Ask what the tenth digit of the vin is and that'll tell you the year.

I concur. After looking at the photos, I will guess that the driver rear ended someone and smashed the headlamps and bumper. Then bought the 95-96 lights without knowing there was a difference.

Good that you haven't bought it yet. Those look a lot like my kid's E-Ghey specials. He bought these for his Spyder. His were supposed to be "halo" style. They suck dick for lighting up the road (unless on highbeam). You might want to check that out when you look at it.

Those are aftermarket eric. In my avatar pic they look chrome but theyre not. Black with chrome center

Those aren't aftermarket headlights. Those are 2Ga headlights. And if you can't tell by looking at those pics he posted then you're blind or can't read because he said in his other thread it had a 2Gb conversion done.

My 95 originally came with chrome headlights, the lamps on the new car are stamped mitsu with the proper DOT numbers. they're 95-96 2Ga headlights or Talon headlights throughout the entire run from 95-98. 97-99 2Gb headlights had the shape changed slightly to match the bumper cover and the inner housings were black instead of chrome.

i have some of those egay headlights and they arent shit for lighting up the road.

same here most of the ebay ones I've seen are junk, i ended up just adding some aftermarket fog lights to turn on with the headlights so i could have enough light to see at night
