103386, Auto Interior Leather Dye. Posted by Gigabyte, Apr-27-09 12:03 AM
I recently acquired a set of 95 GST gray leather inner door panels. My interior is Black/Gray and was wanting to paint the door panels to match a bit better with the rest of the interior. So I went out and bought some vinyl paint thinking that would work. After prepping and applying three coats of paint, and letting it dry for 24 hours before installing. They turned out very well, but after about two weeks the paint started to flake off the leather. So this tells me that vinyl will not work on leather (duh). So I started to search around for leather dye and found this website http://www.leathermagic.com and it turns out they have Mitsubishi Black in a $50 kit. So I'm thinking about buying it and trying it. But wanted to know if anybody else has had experience with dying their leather interior, and what I should expect. Thanks!

I bought a car a while ago and the dealer had the front seats dyed because they were very faded.
It held up fine with no fading problems whatsoever.
That being said, I think this something better off left to a pro. Id strip the door panels and just go drop off the panels at a good upholstery. I doubt it will be much more than the kit, and you will get great, even results.
