no way those are 17x10. for your spacing the tires would be rubbing the knuckle upright like a mother.
the tire size suggests a 17x7/17x8 and by the look of the tires themselves and how they crown across the top I'd guess the 17x7
and yes I can gather that from one pic.

Agreed. 10" wide? I doubt that judging by their relationship to the fender well.

Ill try to fill in the details:
Basically Warmage posted a pic of his car, said the wheels were 10", Ronin and Code 4 said they werent.
Warmage responded that they were, except he is using RWD wheels so they stick out 1.5" on each side. Also posted pictures of his ability to use a ruler.
Freelancefool suggested the topics be split, and he was right.

I also suggested that to maintain the proper load on the bearings, for every 10mm increase in tire width, you decrease the offset by 5mm. This will move the tire further out from the car while still centering the load on the bearing.
IE. You have 215s and want to step up to a 245, so you go with a +27 offset.
If I am wrong about this, someone please correct me.

Actually, if you decreased the positive offset, it would push the rim out further from the hub so you would be putting more stress on the bearing. Say a 17x8 with a +30 offset will stick out further than a 17x8 with a +38 offset.
A 17x8 +38 will fit a 245/40 no problem in our wheel wells. You can acutally get it to tuck with some camber. If you were running +27 it would most definitely contact the fender while hitting a bump. You would need some high spring rates to prevent it.

You mean rim right? Not tire? Because your backspacing has nothing to do with the section width of the tire.

yes, but it puts the center of the load farther out, thus increasing the stress on the bearing. If our cars used a spindle and multiple bearing setup it wouldn't be a big deal because there's 2 bearings to split the load. unfortunately we have a single bearing setup that is very susceptable to failure because of changing stress loads.
