103196, Power Locks??? Help Please Posted by Smokey719, Mar-19-09 11:31 AM
So here's the story when i bought my car back in February of 08 the power locks didn't work ok....checked the fuse it was blown so i replaced it...now the locks twitch when you hit the button but don't close or open all the way. So i just kind of left it at that till i decided that I want to use my power locks well so me and my friend pulled apart my door panel and checked the power to the switch harness well im getting 12 volts to 3 pins (can't remember what numbers they are. so we traced the wire back to the lock actuator and pulled the harness and 1 pin gets 1.26 volts now and all the others are dead. So now i was convinced i had a short somewhere in my wire. so ok put it all back together hit the button for shits and giggles and the driver side locks and unlocks only a few times and then it reverts back to its twitching motion meanwhile this entire time the passenger side lock doesn't move at all. So since you guys have always been able to help me out i thought i might pick your brains on this because i have yet to come across a thread in the search forum that had this same problem Thanks in advance for all your help 2GNT

Relay is fine checked it already i get 12 volts to 3 of the pins in the harness and it clicks when i hit the lock button....if im incorrect on anything i say please correct me because im not very good with electrical...I thought it might be the actuators too but the harness that hooks to the actuators was only getting 1.2 volts so there in theory if im correct its not getting enough voltage to turn the actuator adequately

Im not sure what else to tell you, im not the greatest when it comes to this.
My car was manual and I swapped in power doors. I wanna say it acted like you described for five minutes after I hooked it up, but its been fine for over a year now.
Check your linkages from the handle to the interior. And the handle to the power actuator.

Its either the actuators or the lock rods are stuck. My car the lock rods had no lubricant on the joints, so when I hit the lock button they just twitched. Lubed it up, locked and unlocked each side by hand a few times and they work fine now.
