Need reviews of each from road noise/treadwear. Falkens and Hankooks are low in Ohio but they still have them.

I thought this would help other mebers and could be added to the wiki next to the quality wheels

Ones I want are all seasoned

I know some 2g owners here used the Kumhos ASX. But what I need to know is how long do they last the tread wear.

Between the

Hankooks tread 340
Falkens Ze 912 tread 360 @ 40k
Kumhos ASX tread 420 @ 30k
Nitto Nt 450 tread 300 @ 45k

If I had to pick from those I would go Falken, however I would look into the Nitto 555's...they are pretty cheap now and they are an excellant tire. I run the 555 extremes on the rear of my car with the NT-01's up front.

Falken Ziex 912 are nice. I had them, and they are awesome tires.

Also look into the Fuzion HRi. They are cheap, and excellent. I currently have those on the car. They feel great, and did well in the rain/ice/snow.

Also, dont be afraid to buy somewhere else than whats closest to you. If you get a better deal, I know Discount Tire, Tire Kingdom, or TCi will mount and balance each tire for $10 as long as they are new with labels :)

Not to add to your list but I run the Yokohama S.Drives. Great for those that can get away with using an Ultra High Perf Tire.

+1....100% agree about the Hankook but kinda would expect something with the Fuzions

+3 also about stay clear of Hankooks, I've they split at the rim and they same happend to my old BFG's that where on my 2g when I bought her.

When I save up for my next I'll check out Nitto's

I bought and went for Falken's ZE-502 at $61 each for are 282 out the door that included the 34 shipping to Ohio minus the tax.

I highly recomend looking at www.Vulcantire.com Prices are excellent on they're Falken drag/radials.

They carry Falken's Kumhos and Yokohama's checkout the picture of the S-Drives, tread pattern is sic very xtreme.

Vulcantire.com is from Utah and PA close to everyone.

Gave back to the economy, buy spend my refund on my 2g bought a bunch of little stuff but where badly needed replaced.

My Fuzions have no signs of anything like that.

In fact, they feel great at highway speed, and have plenty of grip.

Next set is Hankook RS2's or Falken Azenis. Cant beat the grip you get, and of course they wear fast, they do that! But if someone is buying Azenis or RS2's they should realize that they will only get 10-20k out of them.

I've gotten about 18k miles out of the fk542s. My buddy Phil has gotten about 8 or 9k out of the rt615s so far. The rt615s will probably last about 10-12k miles.

I run Fuzion ZRi's with no issue. Nice agressive tread pattern and lots of grip in the rainy season. :shrug

I've had all season kumho's on the evo (ASX's) for almost 30K miles and they have treated me great. Plenty of grip for the streets, good wear, good in the cold, wet, snow, dry, anything. At ~100/tire for 235/45/17's, I think they were a great bargain.

Edit: DTD has them for $83/piece for your size. That's only $332, cheaper than all your other options

Thanks guys, your info. helps for my next set. I was curious about the Fuzions also. I compared prices from Discounttire and Vulcantire on the Falken's 912's. Vulcantire beats Discountire buy 10 bucks

Asking price is 77 a tire at Vulcantire to 87 a tire at Discount, manager emailed back and offered me their price at 77 for the Falken 912 azenis.

I just received my Falkens ZE-502's about 10 mins before I signed in.
Went to a Ziegler Tire at noon to have my front end aligned,qouted price was 49.95 better than 69.95 It turned out my balljoints are f'd up, and on top of that guy said he couldn't the job anyway because of my front bumper, he asked if it was aftermarket. My front bumper couldn't fit over their alignment machine. Replied back nope its oem, and I replaced with an oe bumper. At this moment I have winter 14's, he said this was a possiblity too. I think was Bs'n me abit, his service wasn't great either.
My plan was alignment first complete rotor/pads replacement frt-rear,install my new rubbers and replace my radiator this is was my refund went for this year. I saved about 100-200 from the 60 dollar Falkens, and was cheaper than Walmart's 90 dollar Douglas. Now, I have to do my brakes, install tires and take my 2g to a Dodge dealer for the balljoint recall and possibly alignment also, if their rate is the same at Mike's dealer.

Thanks, to everyone about the free balljoint replacement recall. This saved me quite abit, luckly when I first came to the boards this was first thing I checked out, and its a go. Previous owner never had them replaced due to the recall.
My shipment was lightning fast, I ordered my falkens Wednesday morning, they arrived two days later. www.vulcantire.com from PA must very close to OHIO-WV boarder since it was a 1-2 day ship.

The tread pattern is very aggressive they are 1 gen. series before the 512's I'll post a pics of the Falken tread on stocker's I'm getting them blackedout this weekend and maybe pics of my garage also I did some spring cleaning yesterday,in my garage finally. The extra bay helps out alot. I'm helping my step dad do his ranger timing he's not liking Fords now because the center bolt is between a 29 and 30 some japan crap.

I did a search and found this info from an other member

I used 500 degree engine paint and it dried in 30 minutes so I was able to do 3 coats of paint and 3 clear coats in 1 day.

How many cans should buy to do this,paint and clear coat.

rust will be from your hubs or the spring clip that holds your center cap in place, not the wheels themselves.

last time I painted wheels I started off by cleaning the SHIT out of them with a red scotch brite pad and various cleaners (bleche white, simple green, etc.) it's best to take the tires off and remove the valve stems, weights and such, but if you don't have access to a tire machine to do all this you can tape off the unpainted bits. I would still remove the weights and the centercap just to make sure that you don't get chipping when you get your tires done (and have a stupid looking unpainted spot)

after you've cleaned them to looking cleaner than new, scuff all the smooth surfaces with some 600-800 grit sandpaper. wet sanding will work best.

rinse and dry your wheels. compressed air really helps get the water out of the cracks. get some alcohol and wipe them down with something that won't leave lint. I prefer blue shop towels. DO NOT use any towels that have been through your dryer with any kind of fabric softener or dryer sheets! these contain silicon and will leave nasty fish eyes all over your paint job!!!

finally you're on to paint!!! I prefer the duplicolor wheel paint for ease of use, but you can use engine paint if you are willing to throw the wheels in the oven and bake it on (which is actually stronger)

I bought 5 cans of color and 5 cans of clear, 1 can per wheel of each and just a little extra for touchups and such. start with light dusting coats of the color to give things a layer to stick to and then paint as you would normally. I like to start with the backside of the wheel so that I can get a feel for the paint and how it sprays without screwing up the part that the world will see.

the best thing to remember is that when you're painting, STOP before you think you've got enough paint on. you can always come back and add more later. this will prevent drips and runs.

once the color is done, spray on your clear just like the color but be even more wary of drips and runs since it's harder to see.

at this point if you used engine paint and you've taken off the tire, valve stem, weight and centercap you can throw those bad boys in your home oven to bake the paint in place. Baked engine paint is almost as tough as powdercoating as far as being chip and chemical resistant. if you don't bake it, the first tim you hit it with brakleen or acidic wheel cleaner it'll come right off (this does not count for the wheel paint, just engine paint)

different engine paint manufacturers have different specs on how long it needs to bake, and at what temp so read your directions carefully

when I repaint my EVO 8 wheels I'll do a WIKI write up

Cool thanks Eric, this write up helps. I don't have tires or center caps on them just the weights from the old ones.

I'm thinking about using Rustoleum for the paint and use Duplicolor Clear Coat. Rustoleum is stuff used on grills/ out-door stuff Prevents rusting, plus it'll save me a few bills too. I srayed my winter steelies with Rustoleum it turned out decent.

I have to pass on the oven baking my mother(LOL)would hang me, if caught me doing this.

Didn't read the whole thread but my vote is on Kumho Supra's. I've never had any problems with mine and love the performance :)
