Yea but once it fades a little it will look a little better. i just got sick of looking at the gray primer spot. this looks way better and for a paint can jod it looks good. ill take a picture in the day time and see how it looks it looks better. Can you see you see i did the carbon fiber trick on the black lol. i tried it. i'll get real carbon and a paint job soon.

just my opinion, but that looks like shit.
touching up the primer spot would have been better.

Rattle canning on the exterior should be illegal.

you guys need to chill, it was fun and i know can paint doesnt look as or at all good as real paint. i did it for fun and it helped me learn to prep. i have blisters to prove it. lol i made a lot of rock dings and big gashes go away. so when this summer comes ill have something under my belt prep wise.

now you should do the bumper, that would make a huge difference. and maybe clean up those headlights.
|
103005, RE: out with the old, in with the new Posted by RoninEclipse2G, Feb-28-09 02:09 PM
one solid color would have been better IMO. The red would at least hide some of the rattle can overspray fuzzies.

the bumper is next and the head lights look better then they did. im still working on getting them to look new. i might redo the hood when it gets warmer so i can use the comp and real paint.

Ratttle can is only good for small areas such as my center tailight (look for my post). But that manifold painting looks cool.

You can rent the air tools spray paint and compressors from Advance Auto. You just buy the paint, if I'm wrong about this mybad but Advance-Autozone does rent out air tools etc..

Not hating or anything, but it looks like poo imo. But props on doing something yourself and learning something new. I hope a new paint job for the WHOLE car is in order soon.

looks like you need to go over your bumper too :) but looks good, theres nothing wrong with rattle can jobs, ive done alot of them, alot of times its the whole car, and 2 tones, if you take your time, and use excess coats, they can look damn good, better then sprayed jobs sometimes, just pends on the time spent on them! but yes ive seen spray can jobs that look like s**t too, but so can sprayed jobs

i tried, thats what makes me happy. but yes the bumper is going to be redone. i just bought a paint wheel thing to take off the paint. its a nice one because its soft on plastic. would paint thinner take the paint off the plastic? im asking cuz its way different then being on metal. the good news is that i fixed my headlights and they look so much better, they shine in the sun now. haha
a paint job is in order and soon i hope.

WTF did you do to that poor car in the first place, pour paint thinner all over the front end?
|
103179, RE: out with the old, in with the new Posted by scorpo86, Mar-17-09 09:40 AM

I have no room to talk because I also use a rattle can on my car for touch-ups. However I also went to school for Auto Collision Repair and Refinishing, so I know what kinda prep needs to be done. I'm really not feeling the black V you got goin on, but to each his own and It's good if you like it. Sometimes we forget that each person has their own taste and as long as your car makes YOU happy, then you did a good job.
and agreed on the front bumper being next!

not bad, I like the color. the wheels have an interesting oldschoolish flavor to them.
not a big fan of the Evo hood though. just my personal preference.

its weird a lot of people say they dont like the hood. i think it looks bad ass in person not to mention its a thousand times lighter. im trying to sell the car but its turning out to be difficult.

its funny because i bought the car like that. most of the gay shit was already on the car like the blue interior. As for the wiper ive just been so worried about painting the car and doing the motor i just forget about it lol. idk i have a guy coming to look at it tomorrow, hopefully he buys it. The door handles, rain scoop things on the roof and antenna all came out good though.
