Ripped out my console today to do some work and i noticed that this box is unpluged. what is it? i figured it was the air bag thing but im not sure.

That is the SIR module.

Yes it is the SRS computer.

Be careful plugging it in. You might want to disconnect you negative battery cable first.

More importantly, why was it unplugged? O.o

well i know for fact the car was wrecked before. but it doesn't seem like the air bags were deployed. then again after all the crap i ripped out of car when i got it (Ebay Turbo Pro chip and stuff) the kid probably unhooked it. doesn't really bother me that its unhooked cuz i have an aftermarket steering wheel.

Yea, who cares then right? your SRS light will never go away now! I have a Sparco Mugello, I just disconnected the guages and took the bulb out for it.

alot of people unplug it because they dont like airbags and dont want to worry about the stupid things going off, i ripped unplugged mine removed it and tossed it in the garage, right after i removed the airbags, and took the little light out of the cluster and moved it to another light that was missing
